From the Grand Knight

Thank you for the work you do in the background. For example, putting away chairs, or putting away equipment, or coming out to support events and serve. It doesn’t take much, but it has a big effect. Coming together makes it easier to accomplish many things. We have a great group of folks working Bingo, however we need your help. Some of the core folks will be out of pocket. Also, we have the Life Chain coming up, bring your chair, hold a sign and pray. Another activity is Trunk or Treat, bring some happiness to our youth. Plus, the bazaar is a great time to volunteer your services and meet others from our community. We have so many things to be thankful for, let’s share the Joy with others. More importantly, we need to share the proclamation of the Gospel. Can you imagine a parish, your small community, your household, where Christ is the absolute priority? Wow! This is nothing new, and our Pope, Bishop, and priests have been talking about this proclamation, known as Kerygma. If you want to experience this message, you should come to the upcoming retreat, where St. Catherine will be hosting a few other parishes at the end of the month. The Knights have a very important mission. We are Catholic Men Building a Bridge Back to Faith!

REMEMBER---to Pray for the poor souls in Purgatory. And, --to pray nightly at 9PM for those people who so badly need prayers, who are on our Knights of Columbus Prayer List. In fact, there may be someone in our group, or in our family that needs more than an occasional prayer. Maybe, there is someone who could really benefit from a Rosary. A Rosary every day. Try it. Set aside a certain time, or take a walk for exercise and pray at the same time. This might be the perfect time to ‘get-in-the-habit” of saying a daily Rosary! There are so many who need prayers.

From The Lady Knights

First, I want to thank everyone for the desserts that were donated to “The Great Steak Out”. The trays were filled with a great variety.

I want to remind everyone about the October BINGO, which will be Friday, October 4. If you can help, please let Mardelle know; I know she will be greatly appreciative.

At the last Lady Knight’s meeting we decided to do our traditional silent auction basket for the church bazaar. The theme that was decided was a Thanksgiving basket. One person has already said that they would give a tablecloth and another went to a yard sale and found the paper products. Other ideas could be cloth napkins and napkins rings, centerpieces, crafts to keep the kids busy while you are trying to cook, or just money to make food gift cards to buy their meal. The bazaar is October 18, 19, and 20, so we do not have long to get the basket together. You can bring your contribution to the next meeting or anytime you may see me at church. I normally go to the 10:00 mass.

As part of our giving, we are making blessing bags at our November meeting. I have already gotten quite a few items, and with the help of my grandson this morning, we took an inventory to see what we had. Here is what we have so far:

Food:• 3 cans 4.5 oz. White Albacore tuna

• 3 cans 7.5 oz. Beef Hash

• 3 cans 7.5 oz. Mini Chef Boyardee spaghetti mixes

• 8 cans 7.5 oz. Van Camp’s Beanee Weenee

• 9 cans 4.6 oz. Armour Vienna Sausage

• 6 cups 6.4 oz. Applesauce

• 5 packages 3.43 oz. Cheese Dip & Breadsticks

• 20 granola bars 1.2 oz.

• 6 small bottle water 6 oz.

Toiletries:• 14 toothbrushes

• 13 toothpastes

• 1 dental floss

• 4 mini magic towels

• 3 packages Huggie wipes

• 18 package size wet wipes

• 16 Kleenex pocket size

• 6 Shampoo

• 3 Conditioner

• 3 Body Lotion

• 14 bars of soap

Clothes:• 21 pairs of socks

Utensils, etc:• forks, spoons & gallon size zip lock bags

As you can see, we have a wonderful assortment, but we could still use more. Remember, we need mini size. We are a little low on shampoos and lotions. Also, we could use some inspirational prayers to put in. You can bring them to the October and November meetings.

Again, I want to invite everyone to our next meeting, which is Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:00PM in the Moses room in the formation center.

Knight of the Month Brother Jim Pilliod was selected as the Knight of the Month. Brother Jim has been full of solutions, from the budget, to contact continuity. Brother Jim is always seen at Mass, and is a supporter of Knights' events when he comes to attend. What an awesome job he has been doing, keeping the U.S. Flag, at St. Catherine, at the proper height at times of half mast protocol. When you see the cowboy hat, you know Brother Jim is near.
