IF THERE WAS EVER A TIME FOR FAITH…. Each year we seem to latch onto a carol which resonates with something going on in our lives….Below are words sung in a song you might hear our choir sing during this Christmas season. ….Comfort or direction in a time when so much of what we are experiencing in our world both dis-tant and near seems to make us feel like orphans…

The tree of life my soul hath seen, laden with fruit and always green: The trees of nature fruitless be compared with Christ the apple tree.

Allow the words and the music of this song speak to your hearts along with all the words you hear within in these walls. May they truly and honestly come to life inside of each of us as we journey together. Let us see each other as brothers and sisters who each long for the shade of that tree realizing the price it cost and the load which it bore to show us true love. Allow the lights which twinkle throughout this space draw you into the mystery of that love which is life. The branches of the trees support the lights as they supported Christ our Light. If all we see and hear and smell and feel during our time at St. Stanislaus during this festive season feeds our weak faith even slightly….then, let us be thankful.

Speaking of being thankful, allow me to extend my thanks to the many many many parishioners who help us make this parish run on a daily basis, who volunteer hours and hours of their time and talent, all for no reason other than the glory of God as He is reflected in this tabernacle and in our little world within Slavic Vil-lage. As difficult as it may have been at various times and may continue to be, let us keep in mind the person whom we honor with all our sacrifices and works— the One who is the apple tree. We continue to do all that we do for Him and Him alone.

Mały cud Szalał z rozpaczy. Miał zabić własnego syna! Krzyczał do telefonu: „chyba się w piekle będę poniewierał, że zabiłem swoje

dziecko”. Chciałam na podstawie własnych przeżyć ustosunkować się do artykułu „Porażka życia” Bogumiła Łozińskiego (GN 44/2012).

Straszny był wyrok dla synowej i syna, gdy po badaniach prenatalnych usłyszeli, że dziecko poza łonem matki nie będzie oddychało i otrzymali zgodę na aborcję. Syn szalał z rozpaczy. Miał zabić własnego syna! Krzyczał do telefonu: „chyba się w piekle będę poniewierał, że zabiłem swoje dziecko”. Zaczęłam błagać, aby poczekali.

Nawet drugie badanie prenatalne potwierdzało werdykt: wada serca i brak aorty płucnej. Minął czas na aborcję. Pocieszałam jak mogłam, że kiedyś dzieci rodziły się i umierały. Jaka jest mądrość w słowach Jana Pawła

II: „od naturalnego poczęcia do naturalnej śmierci”. Przyszedł czas rozwiązania. Synowej wykonali cesarskie cięcie, żeby dziecko nie udusiło się podczas porodu. I przyszedł na

świat nasz wnuczek! Co dziwne – oddychał, a nie miał samodzielne oddychać! Po tomografii komputerowej pani doktor stwierdziła, że mamy „mały cud”! Jest druga aorta płucna, której miało nie być. Aorty

były ułożone równolegle i nie widziano ich na badaniach prenatalnych. Przygotowywano wnuka na operację serca, gdy zainfekowany został rotawirusem. Po tygodniu rozwinęła się sepsa, z którą maleństwo walczyło 2 tygodnie.

Ochrzczono go w szpitalu. Po miesiącu zmarł. Synowa stwierdziła, że nie żałuje, że go urodziła, bo miała go przynajmniej przez chwilkę…

Co patrzę na zdjęcie, to płyną mi łzy! Był taki śliczny i nie zdążyłam go nawet przytulić do siebie… Życie jest darem Bożym i nie wolno nam zabijać nienarodzonego dziecka z powodu choroby!

*** Umieściłem ten tekst na swoim blogu na salon24. Jedna z czytelniczek zostawiła taki komentarz: „Znajoma w trzeciej ciąży, lekarze odradzają donoszenie dziecka, bo urodzi się chore, z wieloma wadami. Matka dziecka,

rozdarta, bijąca się z myślami, decyduje się na urodzenie dziecka, zadając sobie pytanie, dwoje jest zdrowych, dlaczego trzecie ma się urodzić chore? Urodziła się dziewczynka, zdrowa. Teraz jest matką zdrowych dzieci.”

*** Cuda się zdarzają. Czy małe? Ocalenie jednego życia nie jest małym cudem. Wielkość i wartość ludzkiemu życiu nadaje przede

wszystkim fakt, że sam Syn Boży stał się Człowiekiem. Chrystus urodził się w Betlejem dwa tysiące lat temu. Błogosławieni są ci, którzy przyjęli i przyjmują Go z wiarą. Ale On powiedział także, że jeśli ktoś przyjmuje dziecko w Jego imię, JEGO samego przyjmuje (por. Mt 18, 5).

Betlejem powtarza się więc zawsze, kiedy z powodu Chrystusa ktoś decyduje się przyjąć dziecko, które przychodzi „nie w porę”, albo lekarze mówią, że urodzi się chore. „I kto by przyjął jedno takie dziecko w imię moje, Mnie przyjmuje.” (Mt 18,5).

*** Tak, każde życie ludzkie jest cudem. Jeśli jednak życie każdego człowieka przychodzącego na świata jest cudem, to czym jest

przyjście w ludzkim ciele na świat Bożego Syna, jeśli nie cudem cudów? Obyśmy świętując Boże Narodzenie nigdy nie utracili zadziwienia właściwego dzieciom. Oby każde Boże Narodzenie zachowało dla nas atmosferę cudu. Tego życzę sobie i wszystkim Parafianom i Sympatykom św. Stanisława w Cleveland, jak również wszystkim Czytelnikom biuletynu!

Dzisiaj przeczytałem wiadomość, że obecny Ojciec św., jako siedmioletnie dziecko napisał list do Dzieciątka Jezus prosząc Go o mszał, zielony ornat, i o ...Jego Serce. Oby Dzieciątko Jezus obdarzyło każdego z nas swoim SERCEM!

means the Christmas wafers known as OPŁATKI are barely available either at our rectory office or in the vestibule of the church at weekend Masses.

Suggested donation for four pieces (three white for people and one pink for the animals) is $2 or $3. The Christmas wafers will also be available at the Cookie Sale at the Shrine Shop booth. Going fast!

St. Stanislaus Reunion Information

The St. Stanislaus Alumni Committee is looking for Classmates of 1953 and 1963 who would be working on planning to put together their 60th and 50th Class Reun-ions for this summer. The ideal situation would be to in-clude the Alumni Picnic as one of their gatherings. The alumni committee is in the process of procuring a date for the picnic and if you would like to us the occasion as part of your reunion weekend we would be happy to co-ordinate our date with yours, as we have in the past few years with Classes 1961, 1962 and 1952. School Corner Soon and very soon! The song we have begun to sing at our weekly Masses has so much meaning for us. Soon, alarm clocks won't wake us up for two whole weeks. Soon, papers won't need to be graded. Soon, silent lines and raised hands will not be part of our hours in the day. Soon, our personal prayer will not be interrupted with wiggly kids who are too distracted to focus and settle.

Yet, in our final days before Christmas break, we find that "soon" is too close. We held hands and hearts on the Monday after the Sandy Hook shooting. We worry about our children, who will be away from us for two full weeks. Will they eat? Will they be warm? Will they be safe? Will the busy-ness of the holidays keep families from focusing on the hearts of the little ones?

To calm our own hearts, and settle our own fears, we return to our Advent song: Soon and very soon, we will celebrate the birth of Christ. Soon and very soon, we will be reminded again that love and peace are stronger than bad choices and evil. Soon and very soon, the different pace of the holiday season will allow us to slow down and take measure of all of the good that is in our lives.

From the hearts of the students and staff of Saint Stanis-laus School, may "soon" be just the right moment for you to feel God's love.
