prepare for that event on March 19, 2017. We have already sold vending spaces for the event! If you would like to be a vendor, I encourage you to sign up ASAP. In order for this event to continue to be a success we will need club member participation. That will range from volunteers for the event to raffle ticket sales. Event flyers and raffle tickets are available to club members. Please feel free to take these during our meetings or to contact me directly if you need some.

This month we will hold elections for the board. If anyone would like to run for Chair, Vice Chair or Membership chair they will need to voice their interest. These three positions will need to be filled before the first of the year. Once again, I want to assure everyone that I am committed to the QCNCRS, and I want to thank everyone for the support of me temporally taking over role of Chair.

In closing, please remember… YOU MUST BE A NATIONAL MEMBER, TO BE A MEMBER OF THE QUEEN CITY CHAPTER. I stand firmly with this.

Thank you, Christopher Rockenfield Vice chair of QCNCRS

Meeting Minutes October 2016

…… Tom Smith

Vice Chair Chris Rockenfield thanked everyone for coming, and gave special thanks to Bruce Slattery and Karen for hosting this meeting. Chris shared a fond memory of meeting Bruce at Carlisle and having the same passion for parts at swap meets. Bruce has decided not to renew his national membership. We will remember them as great friends, and with much fondness. Secretary Tom Smith thanked everyone for the very nice sympathy card.

Wayne McKee, Treasurer, went over our financial statement, and informed us that the

month at the top is incorrect. It was accepted by all.

Membership chair has been temporarily taken over by Shannon Urton, but the position is up for election.

Judging chair, John Ballard thanked everyone who showed up to judge at our chapter meet, including those from the Miami and Columbus chapters. Great job everybody. Thank you goes out to Jerry Hilbert for bringing the chairs and tables and Dan Lobaugh for the great food! Just a quick mention that Bloomington is coming up at Hendricks motor sports in Charlotte, N.C.

Web Master Dale Maris had nothing new to report.

Tech Master Joe Eyl spoke about the tech session we had October 1st at Shannon and Chris’s house on operations. We had a really good turn out and shared a lot of information.

Chris took the floor and reminded everyone that elections are coming up, and the positions open are Chair, Co-Chair, and Membership Chair. He asked if anyone wanted to nominate someone? Chris asked us all to think about it.

Paul Oslansky sent an email to the QCNCRS saying he is available to take phone calls.

Swap meet flyers and raffle tickets are out, please take a handful, and pass them around, sell tickets to everyone you know! The Texas regional is coming up soon, plus the Muscle Car meet in Chicago. November 15th is the meeting at the sign museum, it will be $10 per person, please sign up on the sheet. Wayne will write one check to the sign museum, and collect the money from the members.

Christmas Party sheet is out, so please sign up for that also. Split the pot was drawn, and the meeting was adjourned.

to Have.

…… Dale Maris

I recently ran into an individual, Mike Belmont, that is looking for a Mid-Year Corvette. I thought it might be good to put something in our next newsletter. I don't believe it needs to be an NCRS all original car, he wants to build one like he use to own. His information:

Our New Australian Friend

…… Dale Maris

Hi Dale my name is Nik Marinos and I live in Melbourne Australia, a year ago I had the pleasure of purchasing a Corvette from a gentleman in Wisconsin after extensive research I have found that the car originally came from Queen City Chevrolet dealer zone 9, dealer 495 build date is 6/29/1966 Cincinnati, OH. I'm currently half way into the restoration of the car and luckily the car is original I thought that your chapter would like to know of another Corvette from Queen City Cincinnati. I hope I can bring the Corvette back to the USA and have it judged. Thank you for your time. Nik

How I Found My 1966 Corvette

…… Nik Marinos

After selling my 1967 Camaro 396 big block, due to the amount of Camaro's in Melbourne, time had come to find a true American classic muscle/ sports car and all the arrows pointed at a mid-year Corvette, after a year of frustration in finding a Corvette the hadn't been modified or changed from its original color and trim scheme. I saw an advertisement in New Mexico, after a phone call and finding out that the car was on sale by consignment for a Mr. XXXXXXX of Appleton Wisconsin, who I believed purchased the Corvette from Jentink Chevrolet and Oldsmobile in Brillion Wisconsin. After some negotiations the flight to California was booked in and our drive to Farmington New Mexico was under way, the anticipation of the Corvette made me feel like a 14 year old and at 50 I wish, well the car

After some negotiations the flight to California was booked in and our drive to Farmington New Mexico was under way, the anticipation of the Corvette made me feel like a 14 year old and at 50 I wish, well the car was truly everything it was described to me and much more.

The carburetor was not factory correct and from what I was told the car had a black roof and the receipts indicate a new roof color change in late 1975.

The previous owner had driven the Corvette on a section of Route 66 so before I brought it down under I felt the previous owner and the car deserved to cruise the rest of Route 66 and what a major tick on the bucket list that was a adventure of a life time.

My 1966 Current Progress

…… Nik Marinos

Not yet an NCRS member. Would like to join your chapter since my Corvette originally came from Cincinnati. (Queen City Chevrolet)

Currently the car has been dismantled and parts have been cataloged and bagged, the engine has been sent off to be freshened up balanced and blue printed luckily compression is good but new gaskets, rings and bearings will keep the engine healthy, the gearbox is in excellent condition and has required only a clean and new oil the differential is the same but to be safe bearings are being changed.

The wiper motor is back from the USA reconditioned. All the original glass is in great condition and is in storage but a new date coded front screen has been set aside.

All the stainless trim is being polished. A complete new interior is also ready to go back in the car from Corvette America.

The wiring harness is currently be tested, the KH knock off wheels are being reconditioned machined and cleaned. The chassis has been sand blasted cleaned and ready for painting and body has had cracked paint remover in ready for the preparation required for painting. In keeping with the period I have decided to paint the Corvette in Acrylic paint like in 1966.

painting. In keeping with the period I have decided to paint the Corvette in Acrylic paint like in 1966.

The relief that all bonding strips are in exceptional condition the car show no history of damage other than the front right flasher (indicator) section that had a small fender bender repair so a bit of attention is needed to get it right again.

Thanks Nik [email protected]

P.S. Here are some pictures of my friend Brian's 1957 Corvette. He is restoring it for his wife lucky lady.
