CITADEL OF THE SIGN

Inaugurated in 2016 thanks to the Aurea Signa Association and with the support of the European Community and numerous private funds, Officina della Scrittura is the first museum in the world dedicated to the Sign and the Writing.

A true “Citadel of Knowledge”, Officina della Scrittura, is the place where everything related to the culture of writing and, more in general, to the human sign is displayed: from the cave paintings to the various forms of contemporary communication.

A unique museum that shows a perfect mix of technology and tradition, through an organic path, that with its multi-faceted soul tells a story, excites and educates the public of all ages.

Officina della Scrittura is a visual, cognitive, sensorial and interactive experience that will allow you to discover the world of signs.

What is a sign?

Exploring Officina della Scrittura you will be able to know the world of writing in all its facets: from the writings of the ancient ad of today people, to the alphabets of the network.You can also admire some of the main used for writing, from the papyrus up to the tablet.

Subsequently, an immersion in the world of fountain pen: from the 13 Queens, pens that have left a mark in the world, true jewels and icons of the ‘900, to the history of Aurora, which with its pens has marked the last hundred years of the Italian history.

AURORA MANIFACTURE

MADE IN ITALY

It is 1919 when the first Italian manufacture for the production of fountain pens was founded in Turin in Via della Basilica 9. In 1943 the original headquarter was razed to the ground by the Allied bombing and the company was forced to change, moving near the Abbey of Stura, a historic Benedictine complex dated 1146, where the company still resides today.

From the beginning Aurora has shown a remarkable attention to communication, cooperating with artists and noted designers of the twentieth century: Nizzoli, Steiner, Zanuso, Giugiaro and Bodino ...

Aurora fountain pens have become part of Italian everyday life: many of us have learned to write holding an Aurora pen (the legendary Auretta);Aurora has also entered the history of design with its cutting-edge models, such as the famous “88” by Nizzoli ot the “Hastil” designed by Marco Zanuso and exhibited at the MOMA in New York, which have made Aurora one of the more appreciated Made in Italy brands.

Through the production of objects of unmistakable beauty, the Aurora Manifacture of the third millennium wants to continue to be an interpreter of the elegance, the technological innovation and the typical style of Made in Italy por excellence.
