  • THE SILVER TRUMPET

Let Elohim arise, let Their enemies be scattered; and let those who hate Them fee from Their Presence. - Psalm 68:1

Vol. 1, No. 8 New Moon 12th Month Adar

    (February 21, 2015)

  • Yahweh spoke to Moses, Make two trumpets of silver; you are to makethem from a single hammered piece. And they shall be for assembling thecommunity and for directing the traveling of the camps. When they blowthem both, all the community must come to you to the entrance of the tentof meeting. But if they blow with one trumpet, then the leaders, the heads ofthe thousands of Israel must assemble themselves. When you blow analarm, then the camps that are located on the east side must begin to move. And when you blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that arelocated on the south side must begin to move. An alarm must be soundedfor their journeys. But when you assemble the community, you must blow, but you must not sound an alarm. The sons of Aaron, the priests, must blowthe trumpets; and they will be to you for an eternal ordinance throughoutyour generations. If you go to war in your land against an adversary whoopposes you, then you must sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you willbe remembered before Yahweh your Elohim, and you will be saved fromyour enemies. Also in the time when you rejoice, such as on your appointedfestivals and at the beginnings of your months, you must blow with yourtrumpets over your burnt offerings and over the sacrifces of your peaceofferings, so that they may be a memorial for you before your Elohim: I amYahweh your Elohim. - Numbers 10:1-10

    Priesthood and Templeby Trent Wilde

We have repeatedly had the message resounding in our ears, Youare called into priesthood! We have been shown our duty to castaside our idols and die to self. The way has been opened for all whoare willing and earnest to become part of the latter-day priesthood ofrighteousness. Intimately connected with the priesthood is the templein which they are to serve. Those who have been studying thejudgment messages (Revelation 14) for some time know that Heavenhas long been endeavoring to build Their latter-day temple. Yet, itlays in ruins. There has been a delay (Ezra 4:24). The tabernacle ofDavid, which is fallen (Amos 9:11), must be rebuilt.

The establishment of the priesthood and the fnishing of the templemeans the end of sin. It is therefore no surprise that the wicked godshave been (and are) working so hard to keep these things from comingto fruition.1 What they do, though, is not the deciding factor. Heavenhas made decisive moves toward the building of Their temple and theestablishment of Their priesthood. This has indeed been the purposeof the Advent movement from its beginning, and the purpose of thismessage in particular.

What is the real cause for the delay? What is the thing which willbring this delay to an end and instigate the fnal moves to establishingrighteousness on this earth? These questions are the questions thatneed to be asked, and the answers to these are the ones that need to besought. Indeed, what could possibly be more important?

Since we are helpless to discover the answers on our own (Wis.9:13-17; 1 Cor. 2:11), we must seek them from the Spirit of TruthWho has spoken through appointed men of old for our beneft (2 Pet.1:21; 1 Cor. 10:11). The sayings of these men have been preserved forus in the books of our forefathers and it is there that we must look tofnd the truth to the law and the testimony.

Those who believe in the reestablishment of the Davidic kingdomhave long taught that the rebuilding of the temple in the days ofHaggai and Zechariah is a type of the rebuilding of the spiritualhouse (1 Pet. 2:5) in the last days.2 We have thus understood that the

1 This situation is not so very different from the opposition to rebuilding the temple in the days of old (Ezra 4).

prophecies of Haggai and Zechariah are applicable in the last days. The following two tables provide some samples of phrases andpassages within the prophecies of Haggai and Zechariah, on onehand, and reasons why they could not have been directly applicable insecond temple times, on the other hand:

    Haggai

1:8 I will take pleasure in it and show myself in glory.

For Yahweh to show Himself in glory in the context of building a temple is a clear reference to the Shekinah dwelling in the temple (1 Kings 8), yet, that did not take place in the second temple.

2:7 I will shake up all the nations, and they will offer their treasures.

This simply did not happen in Haggai's day.

2:7 I will fll this temple with glory.

Again, the Shekinah did not dwell in the second temple.

2:9 the splendor of this latter house will be greater than that of the former [Solomon's Temple].

Yet, when those who had seen 'Solomon's Temple' saw this one, they wept due to how much it lackedin comparison to the former (Ezra 3:12).

2:21-22 I am ready to shake the sky and the earth. I will overthrow thrones and shatter the kingdoms of the nations.

Seeing as the kingdoms of the nations are sill not overthrown today, the fulfllment of this prophecy must be yet future.

    Zechariah

2:4 Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein.

The history of the second temple does not bear this out as being a reality at that time. Moreover, the walls were rebuilt in the days of Nehemiah (Neh. 6).

2:5 I, Yahweh, will be a wall of fre round about her, and I will be the glory in the midst of her.

As seen previously, the Shekinah did not dwell in the second temple, neither did Yahweh protect Jerusalem as a wall of fre, as is evidenced by the events of 70 C.E.

2:11 And many nations shall be joined to Yahweh in that day

Many nations being converted to Yahweh is a reality yet to be realized.

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8 3

3:9 I will remove the iniquity of the land in one day.

There is still iniquity in the land.

8:22 many people and strong nations shall come to seek Yahweh ofhosts in Jerusalem.

Again, this simply did not take place during second temple times.

9:13 I will bend Judah as my bow; I will load the bow with Ephraim, my arrow!

Ephraim, the northern kingdom, wasscattered in Zechariah's day and remains scattered today.

12:3 all the peoples of the earth will be assembled against her [Jerusalem].

    This has yet to happen.

12:8 the house of David will be like God, as the angel of Yahweh before them.

This has yet to be fulflled.

14:9 And Yahweh shall be king over all the earth.

To this day, the nations are still being ruled by wicked gods (Ps. 82).

14:16 Then all who survive from all the nations that came to attack Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King (Yahweh ofhosts) and to observe the Feast of Tabernacles.

This verse is widely recognized as referring to the latter-day kingdom which shall never be destroyed. It has never yet been fulflled.

With these things in mind we have to conclude that either Haggaiand Zechariah were false prophets or their prophecies simply have notyet been fulflled, which would of course necessitate that theirprophecies did not ultimately refer to typical second temple times, butrather the latter days. The idea that the prophecies of Haggai andZechariah fnd their perfect fulfllment in the latter days should comeas no surprise since the prophets which preceded them prophesied thesame things and explicitly said they will be fulflled in the latter days(Isa. 2:2; Hos. 3:5 Mic. 4:1).

These prophecies speak of returning to the land of Israel (Isa. 11;Eze. 36), but they also speak of a reformation in the lands of thegentiles before returning to the Promised Land (Deut. 30:1-3; Isa. 35;Ps. 68). Part of this reformation in the lands of the gentiles is theconsecration of the priesthood (Ex. 29; Lev. 8) since that was doneprior to entering Canaan. The fulfllment of such prophecies as Daniel8 should be enough to show us that our Heavenly Family is, at this

time, calling for the re-establishment of the priesthood and the templeservices.3

The different prophecies which pertain to this temple andpriesthood clearly portray it to be a Davidic Temple and a Davidicpriesthood.4 Likewise, the restoration of temple in the days of Haggaiand Zechariah was really the restoration of the Davidic temple. Yes,Solomon built it, but the plans for the temple and its services were allgiven to David by revelation and written down by him (1 Chron.28:11-19). It is for this reason that we fnd prophecies such as these:

This is an oracle of Yahweh, Behold the days are coming whenI will raise unto David a righteous Branch. He will reign as a Kingand act wisely and will do what is just and right in the land. In Hisdays Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell safely, and his namewill be called 'Yahweh our righteousness.' - Jeremiah 23:5-6

Then say to him [Joshua], Yahweh of hosts says, 'Behold theman whose name is BRANCH; He will sprout up from His placeand build the temple of Yahweh. Indeed, He will build the templeof Yahweh, and he will sit and rule upon His throne; and there willbe a priest upon His throne: And the counsel of peace shall bebetween them both. - Zechariah 6:12-13

You see that just as Solomon (the son of David) was risen up untoDavid to build the frst temple (1 Chron. 28:10) which had to besubsequently rebuilt in the early days of the second temple (Haggaiand Zechariah's day); just so Christ, the man whose name is Branch(the son of David) was risen up unto David to build the spiritual temple(1 Cor. 3:16; Eph. 2:21) which now has to be rebuilt (restored) as ananti-typical second temple, as has been prophesied by the secondtemple prophets.

In order to beneft the most from the prophecies concerning thesecond temple, we need to specify the time to which they refer withmore exactness. Zechariah 3 portrays a vision in which Joshua thehigh priest receives a change of garments and a priestly turban uponhis head (Zech. 3:4-5). The taking away of his flthy garment is said to

represent the taking away of his sin (Zech. 3:4). The imagery of thischapter is unmistakably alluding to the consecration rites forpriesthood (Ex. 29; Lev. 8)5 and reveals that Joshua represents a latter-day fgure who would be the frst to be purifed from sin and thuscalled as high priest in the latter-day priesthood of righteousness. What this means is that the beginnings of the latter-day purifcationfrom sin and the beginnings of the latter-day consecration of thepriesthood are one and the same thing. Ezekiel's vision of the drybones (Eze. 37) specifes the time when the purifcation from sin takesplace, and thus, by so doing, shows us when we can expect theconsecration of the latter-day priesthood. Though we do not herehave the space to go through Ezekiel 37 in detail, nor provide theevidence for our understanding of it, as we do elsewhere,6 we will givea brief summary which we pray will be helpful:

    Prophecy Interpretation

    1. Valley of Dry Bones 1. Dark Ages otherwise known as the great falling away from righteousness

    2. Ezekiel prophesies to the bones 2. Message of Reformation (1500)7

    3. Noise 3. 1st Angel's Message (1830's)

    4. Shaking 4. 2nd Angel's Message (1844)

    5. Bone joins with bone 5. 3rd Angel's Message (1844)

    6. Sinews 6. Rod Message (1929)

    7. Flesh 7. Branch He Message (1955)

    8. Skin 8. Branch She Message (1977)

    9. Ezekiel prophesies to the Spirit 9. Branch Message (1986)

    10. Spirit breathes life (righteousness)

    10. Beginning of latter-day resurrection from death in trespasses and sin (2013)

If this interpretation is true, which we frmly believe it is, then thelatter-day resurrection from death in trespasses and sin has just begun, which also means that the consecration of the priesthood has justbegun.

messages continued to be proclaimed after the dates given.

  • 6 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8

In the days of Haggai and Zechariah, the building of the templewas the issue at hand. The altar and the work of the priesthood beganto be restored just prior to the restoration of the temple itself (Ezra3:1-6). If the latter-day altar and priesthood are just beginning to berestored now, then it must be that the temple itself is likewise about tobe restored. This same truth is also disclosed in Zechariah where ittells us that Joshua and his colleagues (the others being consecrated aspriests) are a sign that Yahweh's Servant (Branch) is about to bebrought forward and that He will build the temple (Zech. 3:8; 6:12-13).

Since we can now see that these prophecies have such particularrelation to us, there is no need to tarry any longer in submergingourselves in their substance.

Build the Temple! The First Saying of Haggai the Prophet

1:1 In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the

frst day of the month, the word of Yahweh went out through theprophet Haggai to the governor of Judah, Zerubbabel son ofShealtiel, and to the high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak:

1:2 This is what Yahweh of hosts has spoken: This people here

have said, Now the time has not yet come to rebuild the house ofYahweh. - Haggai 1:1-2

Herein lies the answer to our original question, What is the realcause for the delay? Evidently, those who are supposed to be buildingthe temple and who are living at the very time in which the temple isto be built are saying that it is not now time to rebuild it! Perhapsthese things are not said in word, but truly they are in deed, forotherwise, the temple would be built already. Some may say, Well, this verse doesn't apply to us. But if we say that, are we not doing thevery thing which this verse says we are doing, that is, saying, Now thetime has not yet come to rebuild the house of Yahweh? The reasonwhy this is so is because the denial of the applicability of this versenecessitates the denial of the applicability of the surrounding verses, for sake of consistency. Since it is the surrounding verses which tell usthat it is time to build the temple, then denying the rebuke is indeeddenying that it is now time to build.

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8 7

To make that point all the more clear we mentioned earlier thatthe building of the temple and the establishment of the priesthoodmeans the end of sin. If, then, we continue to sin we are workingcontrary to the very purpose of the temple and its construction andare, in effect, saying that it is not now time to build it. If thesescriptures are true, and if these are the things which are being said inthe hearts of the branch candidates, and more so, if they do not evenrealize it, how is it that the temple will ever be rebuilt?

Those who do not realize the condition of their heart will not seekfor a new one any more than will a person who does not realize he issick seek for a doctor (Matt. 9:10-13). Let us, then, see how ourHeavenly Family reasons with us:

1:3 So, the word of Yahweh came by the hand of Haggai the

prophet saying: 1:4 Is it then time for you, yes you, to dwell inroofed houses while this house lay in ruins? - Haggai 1:3-4

Our Heavenly Sister responds to your heart saying, If it is nottime to build my house in order that I may dwell with you, is it reallytime to build your own house? Why are you more concerned withyour own perceived needs than you are with making a place for me todwell with you? Our Heavenly Family would have us know that if wecare for our own house more than we do for Their temple, we revealour own selfshness, and we even reveal that we have another godwhich we place above Them. Too many are more concerned abouthaving a roof over their head then they are about the work of puttingaway sin and bringing an end to the reign of darkness. With such,Wisdom cannot dwell, for they have set themselves up in their house(temple) in place of her.

All our talents and skills and all of our time are gifts which Heavenhas given us. Some believe that Heaven has granted them the time fortheir own endeavors, but this is a mistake. The temple lays in ruins! The tabernacle of David is fallen! Our Heavenly Family says, We arespeaking to you, yes you! It is not time to be concerned about yourown business and your own necessities, rather seek frst our kingdomand our righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

1:5 Here then is what Yahweh of hosts says: Set your heart uponyour ways. 1:6 You have planted much, but have harvested little.

You eat, but are not flled. You drink, but are still thirsty. You put

  • 8 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8

on clothes, but are not warm. Those who earn wages end up withholes in their pockets. - Haggai 1:5-6

Our Heavenly Family is asking you to consider your state of affairsand to see how futile it really is to be seeking after your own well-beingrather than seeking Their kingdom and allowing Them to take care ofthe rest. We all know this anyway, and They are trying to show us thatwe do indeed know this. Consider how much your way of living hasnot worked up till now. See how you have planted much, butharvested little. See how you eat but are not flled. You drink but arestill thirsty. Our money and our clothes are of no avail. The messagefrom Heaven is,

Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? And yourlabor for that which does not satisfy? Listen to me diligently and eatthat which is good; let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline yourear, and come to me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I willmake an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies ofDavid. - Isaiah 55:2-3

Branches, you know that it is to you that the everlasting covenant isto be fulflled (Ezekiel 16). You know that the messages contained inthe psalms have been coming to you in unmistakable tones. You knowthat you are being called into priesthood. This is the new covenantand it is available to you now. What our Heavenly Family is offeringyou is infnitely better than what you have. To live in Their house isinfnitely better than to live in our own. Let us be done with our ownways and our own thoughts then. Let us rid ourselves ofungratefulness for the blessings which Heaven is now offering us. Letus say,

Blessed is the one you choose and bring near to dwell in yourcourts! We will be satisfed with the goodness of your house, theholiness of your temple! - Psalm 65:4

But who shall abide in Yahweh's tabernacle? Who shall dwell inTheir holy hill (Ps. 15:1)?

He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks thetruth in his heart. He that does not backbite with his tongue, nor does

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8 9

evil to his neighbor. In his eyes, a vile person is condemned, but hehonors them that fear Yahweh. He swears to his own disadvantage, and does not change. He does not charge interest when he lends, nor does he take advantage of the innocent. He that does thesethings shall never be moved. - Psalm 15:2-5

Wisdom is indeed wise and She knows just how best to reveal thevanity of living for self.8 Not only has She told us plainly that it is nottime to build our own houses and that it is time to build Her house, but She has also shown us that all this is for our beneft and we shouldtherefore be glad about it.

1:7 Moreover, Yahweh of hosts says: Set your heart upon yourways. 1:8 Go up to the hills, bring back wood, and build the temple!

I will take pleasure in it and show myself in my glory, saysYahweh. - Haggai 1:7-8

Again, our Sister instructs us to consider our ways and then Shetells us to go and build the temple! If we do these things, we have theassurance that She will take pleasure in it and She will show Herself inHer glory! What a promise is this! If we only get a start on the temple, and do it in truth, we will, at the appointed time, bring Her forthcrying, Grace, Grace unto Her! (Zech. 4:7).

Building a temple may be an intimidating task, but our HeavenlyFamily here wipes away all reason for feelings of inadequacy orunftness for the job. They tell us to simply go into the hills, get wood, and build the temple. They start with giving us a job which requiresno special skill or training, nor does it require extraordinary strength. This is a task in which all can participate.

When we gather in the wood (people Jer. 5:14) our HeavenlyFamily will certainly teach us how to build Their house. Indeed, thebuilding plans are already written in the scriptures,9 and our HeavenlyFamily is eager to teach us how to read them. What we need, then, isto sharpen our axes and begin laying them at the roots of the trees(Matt. 3:10) and bringing the wood to the temple site.

Christ calls upon you to take up His yoke and work for Him.Through wielding the truth to save others, you will keep it constantly

8 On this point, we recommend for everyone to read Ecclesiastes for further study.9 See Ex. 25-30; 36-40; 1 Kings 6-7; 2 Chron. 3-4; 1 Chron. 28:11-19; The Temple

    Scroll, and Ezekiel 40-48.

  • 10 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8

in your mind. As we experience the truth at work, we becomeacquainted with its power and come to see that it can indeed changeus. By seeing souls suffering in sin our minds will be drawn to pityfallen humanity and desire the divinity of Christ that we may impartrighteousness to others. We will become self-forgetful and our owndesires for worldly pleasure will fade away. Thus it is that we will giveup self for Christ and for this dying world. What a contrast there isbetween the success we will then experience and the failure we havemet heretofore.

1:9 You have hoped for much, but instead there was little, and

when you brought it home I blew it away. Why? asks Yahweh ofhosts. Because my temple remains in ruins, while each of youfavors his own house! 1:10 Therefore the sky above you withholds itsdew and the earth its produce. 1:11 I called for a drought upon the

land and upon the hills, upon the grain, the wine, the oil, and uponeverything which the ground brings forth; upon men and cattle andupon all the work of their hands. - Haggai 1:9-11

Why is it that you have found yourself unable to have success inyour own endeavors? Because the temple is in ruins and our HeavenlyFamily will only bless the rebuilding of Their house, not the buildingup of our own houses. Heaven does not here threaten to put us undera curse They are revealing to us that we are already under a curse;namely, the curse of a broken covenant (Lev. 26:20; Deut. 11:17).Again, the message from Heaven is,

Incline your ear, and come unto me: Hear, and your soul shalllive; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even thesure mercies of David. Behold, I have given him for a witness to thepeople, a leader and commander to the people. Behold, you willcall a nation that you do not know, and nations that did not knowyou shall run unto you because of Yahweh your Gods and for theHoly One of Israel; for he has glorifed you. Seek Yahweh while hemay be found; call upon him while he is near. Let the wickedforsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let himreturn to Yahweh and he will have mercy upon him, and to ourGods, for they will abundantly pardon. - Isaiah 55:3-7

Choose life dear branches! Choose life! The time for the delay toend is now!

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8 11

1:12 Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and the high priest Joshua

son of Jehozadak, along with the whole remnant of the people, obeyed Yahweh their Gods according to the words of Haggai theprophet, who spoke just as Yahweh their Gods had instructed him,and the people began to fear Yahweh. - Haggai 1:12

HalleluYah! They obeyed from the heart that form of doctrinewhich was delivered to them (Rom. 6:17). They received the word, not as the word of man, but as it is in truth, the word of God (1 Thess.2:13). They gained the fear of Yahweh, which is the beginning ofWisdom (Ps. 111:10). You see, to fear Yahweh is to hear Theirprophets as they really are, spokespersons for our Heavenly Family. If,on the other hand, we choose to take the message as merely theopinion of a man, even though it comes in the name of the Lord, wetake the name of the Lord in vain.

33:30 But as for you, son of man, the sons of your people (who aretalking about you by the walls and at the doors of the houses) say toone another, Come hear the word that comes from Yahweh.33:31 They come to you as people do, and they sit in front of you as

my people. They hear your words, but do not do them. For theylust with their mouths, and their heart is set on their ownadvantage. 33:32 Behold, to them you are as a very lovely song of onethat has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument. Theyhear your words, but they do not do them. 33:33 When all this comesto passand it certainly willthen they will know that a prophethas been among them. - Ezekiel 33:30-33

We ought to recognize by now, that there is a message today, speaking to us the word of Yahweh just as verily as there was in thedays of Haggai.

1:13 Then Haggai, Yahweh's messenger, spoke Yahweh's word to

the people: I am with you! says Yahweh. 1:14 So Yahweh stirredup the will of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, andthe will of the high priest Joshua son of Jehozadak, and the will ofall the whole remnant of the people. They came and worked on thetemple of their Gods, Yahweh of hosts. - Haggai 1:13-14

Here we have an it is written. We have the assurance that if wetake up the work to build the temple (thus actually doing what we

  • 12 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8

have been commanded), the word of Yahweh to us is, I am withyou!

Let your heart be stirred. Choose to follow Heaven. Cast off thechains of the wicked gods and enter into the freedom which ourHeavenly Family offers.

Behold! Now is the acceptable time! Behold! Now is the day ofsalvation! - 2 Corinthians 6:2

    Call for Laborers

While it is true that the temple we are to build is a spiritual temple,it is also true that we are called to engage in hands-on, blue-collarlabor as part of the gospel work. Our Heavenly Family has provided aproperty where they intend to establish the institutions which Theyhave ordained to further the gospel. There are buildings to be erected, and we need workers who are able to come up to the help of the Lord.

We do not at this time know all the details concerning how we aregoing to build each structure, but we do know that we will need wood. Our frst step in this work of building is not so different from what itwas in the days of Haggai, that is to go up to the hills, bring backwood, and build... (Hag. 1:8).

We do not have running water, nor electricity, nor buildingswherein you can dwell. All we have is bare land and the words of life. All who are willing to rough it and engage in the work of building ourfrst structures are invited to come to the Branch center this comingspring, summer, and fall.

The daily work of building together, stopping to pray and eat atthe appointed times, and opening up the scriptures will surely bind usall together in love and will be an experience full of unforgettableblessings.

We also request that those of you with knowledge of naturalbuilding methods contact us as soon as possible so we may begindiscussing building ideas.

    Questions and Answers

    SHOULD WE CONSUME OILS?

Question No. 13:I hear some say that we should not consume oils; is this true?

Answer:A proper answer to this question can be obtained only by the same

procedure in which we can obtain the answer to any other healthquestion.

we are defnitely charged by Heaven Itself to inquire fromthe best health authorities in our day...10

Moreover, since the very best health authority is the Bible we hadbetter inquire there frst. Then, what is not answered there we mayfor it only inquire from the best earthly health authorities of ourday. Let us ever remember, though, that what the Biblerecommends no authority should be permitted to talk us out of it.11

Since there are more self-proclaimed health authorities today thanthere have been in any day of the past, we must frst look at what wecan learn from scripture on the question of oil, and then we will betterbe able to discern the true health authorities on the question.12

For Yahweh's portion is his people, Jacob is the lot of hisinheritance... Yahweh alone was guiding him; no foreign god waswith him. He enabled him to travel over the high terrain of theland, that he might eat of the produce of the felds. He gave himhoney from the cliffs and olive oil from the hardest of rocks, butterfrom the herd and milk from the fock, along with the fat of lambs, rams and goats of Bashan, along with the best of the kernels ofwheat; and from the juice of grapes you drank. - Deuteronomy32:9, 12-14

We have in this passage a list of a number of foods which ourHeavenly Family says They provided for Their people Jacob. The factthat Heaven provided these foods shows that they are not merely

things which They permitted man to eat, such as with fesh foods andquail (Gen. 9:3; Ex. 16), but that they are foods which Heavenrecommends.

Now, if you pay close attention to my commandments that I amgiving you today and love Yahweh your God and serve him with allyour mind and being, then he promises, I will send rain for yourland in its season, the former and the latter rain, so that you maygather in your grain, new wine, and oil. - Deuteronomy 11:13-14

Here, oil, alongside new wine and grain, is recommended as agood food which our Heavenly Family has provided for us to eat.

Now, since we have a particular focus on our call to priesthood, letus consider some of the laws for priesthood in relation to oil.

Now this is what you are to do for them to consecrate them sothat they may minister as my priests. Take a young bull and tworams without blemish; and bread made without yeast, andperforated cakes without yeast mixed with oil, and wafers withoutyeast spread with oil you are to make them using fne wheat four. -Exodus 29:1-3

This is the law of the peace offering sacrifce which he is topresent to Yahweh. If he presents it on account of thanksgiving, along with the thank offering sacrifce he must present unleavenedloaves mixed with olive oil, unleavened wafers smeared with olive oil, andwell soaked ring-shaped loaves made of choice wheat four mixed witholive oil. - Leviticus 7:11-12

The two above verses speak specifcally of the grain offerings to beoffered with a peace offering. Taking a moment to read the lawsconcerning grain offerings in general will help to better understandwhat was done with these offerings as well as the other grain offerings.

When you present an offering of grain baked in an oven, it mustbe made of choice wheat four baked into unleavened loaves mixedwith olive oil or unleavened wafers smeared with olive oil. If youroffering is a grain offering made on the griddle, it must be choicewheat four mixed with olive oil, unleavened. Crumble it in pieces andpour olive oil on it it is a grain offering. If your offering is a grainoffering made in a pan, it must be made of choice wheat four deep

fried in olive oil. You must bring the grain offering that must be madefrom these to Yahweh. Present it to the priest, and he will bring itto the altar. Then the priest must take up from the grain offering itsmemorial portion and offer it up in smoke on the altar it is a giftof a soothing aroma to Yahweh. The remainder of the grainoffering belongs to Aaron and to his sons it is most holy from thegifts of Yahweh. - Leviticus 2:4-10

These scriptures leave no room to doubt that our Heavenly Familyhas given oil as a good food for us to consume. Whenever a grainoffering was presented to a priest, he would offer up a memorialportion, but the remainder would be for himself and his family to eat.Since there was a daily grain offering along with the burnt offering(Num. 28:5), the priests were eating bread with oil on a daily basis.

In the transferal of the priestly service from type to anti-type, ourSavior also maintained the use of oil by using it as dip for his morsel ofbread.13 Our daily meals are to be true suppers of the Lord and are tobe showing forth His sacrifce and intercession on our behalf.

Up till now, branches have been including in their daily mealsunleavened bread, and grape juice diluted with water.14 We haveunderstood the bread to be a symbol of the body of Christ; the wine, asymbol of his blood; the water, a symbol of the Spirit. Thus, we havehad a symbol of the dual intercession of Christ and the Holy Spirit inthe liquid aspect of the meal. Since being asked by more than oneperson on the question of oil though, we have prayerfully searched thescriptures and our Heavenly Family has drawn our attention to the oilaspect of the meal.

The oil on the bread is yet another symbol for the Spirit, thusgiving us two symbols of the dual intercession wine and water onone hand, and bread and oil on the other. Seeing as the breadrepresents the fesh of Christ, which is fallen human fesh, and the oilrepresents the Spirit by which He is led, we can see that the oil on thebread is a symbol of being led by the Spirit while still in the fesh. Toput it another way, it is a symbol of partaking of the divine nature (the

13 Due to the fact that oil was one of the three main staples of the ancient Jewish meal, along with bread and wine, and since some of the other dips used today hadnot become common or even used in the frst century, it is almost certain that the dip used by Christ was oil, and most likely olive oil. WHY IS LEAVEN HID IN THREE MEASURES OF MEAL?

Question No. 14:Why is it that in the parable of the leaven, leaven is hid in three

    measures of meal?Answer:

In order to best answer your question, we need to get a basicunderstanding of the whole parable.

And he told them another parable: The kingdom of heaven is likeunto leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures ofmeal, till the whole was leavened. - Matthew 13:31 (See also Luke13:21.)

The kingdom of heaven, by the defnition of its own terms, is thedominion of our Heavenly Family. If we serve sin, we serve wickedgods and are thus part of their kingdom, but if we serve righteousness,we serve the Divine Family, and are thus part of Their kingdom(Rom. 6:16). Since we can only obtain righteousness by means of thetruth (John 8:32) then it is by truth that the kingdom grows.

The leaven here is a symbol of doctrine, as in Matthew 16:12, buthere it is the doctrine of the gospel (Rom. 6:17). Meal is grain (asymbol of people Matt. 13:24-30) which has been to some extentrefned having chaff removed symbolizing that these people havebeen in some way reformed. The three measures of meal are thus asymbol of the church in three sections.

Since it is in these last days that the Kingdom is to be established(Dan. 2:44), then the three measures must represent the church in thelatter days. To gain an understanding of the identity of these threesections of the church we recommend for everyone to study ourliterature and other resources on Ezekiel 16.15 In short though, thethree measures of meal represent the Advent Movement in three

sections SDA, DSDA, and BDSDA. The leaven then which is hidwithin these three movements is the message of the gospel, the truth righteousness. Since the One who reveals the truth is the Holy Spirit(John 16:13; 1 Cor. 2:10; Eph. 3:5; Rev. 2:17), then She must be theOne represented by the Woman.

This parable, then, reveals that when the Kingdom begins to beestablished, there is a Spirit-breathed message which is spread throughthe three sections of the Advent movement. At frst it is small and evenimperceptible, but it will soon leaven the whole lump.

    A Personal Testimony

    AN UNBIASED PERSPECTIVE

This is the most interesting commentary I've heard yet on the topicof "marriage in Heaven" and Jesus' conversation with the Sadduceesin Matthew 22:30 and Mark 12:18. It shows independent thought, reading the true meaning of what the Bible says and truly under-standing what Jesus is saying. You don't just accept the canned beliefabout Heaven that's been passed down from generation to generationthrough hundreds of years of church theology. Great job!

    Cultured Foods

In our last issue of The Silver Trumpet, we included some tips onprobiotics and how to make sauerkraut (a cultured food) at home. As afollow-up to that, here are more details on another method of makingcultured vegetables.

I made a batch of cultured cabbage and ginger (one of our favorite

versions of sauerkraut) and rather than using water and salt to coverthe vegetables, I simply stirred in salt and used the blunt end of arolling pin to crush the vegetables until their natural juices werereleased. I continued this until the cabbage and ginger was completelycovered in their own juice and then allowed that to culture for tendays before moving to a cooler location. If your hands will not allowyou to crush the vegetables, or if you do not want to take the time tocrush by hand, you can blend a portion of the vegetables in a blenderand pour this liquid in the jar with your vegetables until they arecompletely covered. Follow the normal culturing process at this point.

    Oils

Certain oils are rich in health benefting properties. In this section,we will share a few of those benefts relating to extra virgin cold-pressed olive oil as well as extra virgin cold-pressed coconut oil.

Extra Virgin Cold-pressed Olive Oil Some of the many beneftsinclude reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, reduces infammation, aids in weight loss, reduces the risk of heart disease, lowers badcholesterol levels (LDL) and raises good cholesterol levels (HDL). It isalso a powerful antioxidant.

For more information on the health benefts of olive oil, please seethe following web site which cites several medical studies to back upthese statements.

In addition to this, we would like to share with you an abstractfrom Olive oil and health: Summary of the II international conference on olive oiland health consensus report, Jaen and Cordoba (Spain) 2008:

Olive oil (OO) is the most representative food of the traditionalMediterranean Diet (MedDiet). Increasing evidence suggests thatmonounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) as a nutrient, OO as a food, and the MedDiet as a food pattern are associated with a decreasedrisk of cardiovascular disease, obesity, metabolic syndrome, type 2diabetes and hypertension. A MedDiet rich in OO and OO per sehas been shown to improve cardiovascular risk factors, such as lipidprofles, blood pressure, postprandial hyperlipidemia, endothelialdysfunction, oxidative stress, and antithrombotic profles. Some of

  • The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8 19

these benefcial effects can be attributed to the OO minorcomponents. Therefore, the defnition of the MedDiet shouldinclude OO. Phenolic compounds in OO have shown antioxidantand anti-infammatory properties, prevent lipoperoxidation, inducefavorable changes of lipid profle, improve endothelial function, and disclose antithrombotic properties. Observational studies fromMediterranean cohorts have suggested that dietary MUFA may beprotective against age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer'sdisease. Recent studies consistently support the concept that theOO-rich MedDiet is compatible with healthier aging and increasedlongevity. In countries where the population adheres to theMedDiet, such as Spain, Greece and Italy, and OO is the principalsource of fat, rates of cancer incidence are lower than in northernEuropean countries. Experimental and human cellular studies haveprovided new evidence on the potential protective effect of OO oncancer. Furthermore, results of case-control and cohort studiessuggest that MUFA intake including OO is associated with areduction in cancer risk (mainly breast, colorectal and prostatecancers).17

Extra Virgin Cold-pressed Coconut Oil Some benefts to coconutoil include being a quick energy source, reduces risk of heart disease, isanti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial, thus helping to avoidinfections, reduces the rate of seizures in epileptic children, is a skinmoisturizer and sun screen, aids in weight loss, and improves brainfunction in patients with milder cases of Alzheimer's disease.

(The following poem was inspired by a statement in 2T p. 656 found inThe Cause In Vermont. Many love the truth a little, but they love this worldmore.)

    Choose

Many love the truth a little but they love this dead world more.

It must be that those who do believeth not what is in store for those who choose to die to sin and let the Spirit reign within.

What can it be that draws their love to things of earth from that above?

Do houses, cars or tracts of land compare to Gods' extended hand?

That hand not only reaches out to beckon us to take ahold, it's also full of treasure stores more precious than the fnest gold.

What good is it to work and strive to just exist and stay alive?

No lasting joy abides within the heart polluted by one sin.

Much better to deny the fesh and exercise the power to choose, than gain a moment's pseudo-bliss and in the end forever lose.

It's possible, you know, to choose to lay aside all fear and doubt.

  • 24 The Silver Trumpet Vol. 1 No. 8

Just ask yourself what's truly real, and make a point to learn about the power of God to make you free so you can have the victory.

And know that you need never sin, so long as Their love reigns within.

Christ understands you yes, He does!He lived a human life of woes.He empathizes with each trial. He's the only One who knows.

How weak the fesh; how weak indeed! He understands our greatest need is love, true love, and truth and power that He obtained each trying hour from Him from Whom all blessings fow to His dear Son while here below.

His strength is ours if we will choose to make a choice a choice, a choice! That's all it takes to break one loose from the accuser's deadly noose.

Your mind is yours! It's Gods' free gift!Don't give it up to Satan's will.

Decide to live and love, and lift your eyes to Those who love you still.

Now, hear the plea of Gods' dear Son by Whom the victory is won.Choose, my child, to die to sin and let My Spirit reign within.
