IF MARGE AND HOMER SIMPSON WERE BUYERS…MY STORY For those of you who do not read my blog www.wongpinepple.wordpress.com would not know that I am about to complete a 12 week part-time course on digital marketing.

As part of the marking criteria, I am supposed to create a final presentation on the assignment allocated to my group.

In the past 3 months I have been put through hell trying to figure out what is “KEYWORDS” and “BUYER PERSONA” and I am not sure I got it.

Whatever may be the case, I present you Marge and Homer Simpson…

MARGE SIMPSON2

MARKETING MANAGER – MARGE BACKGROUND:• SME Brand Marketing Manager • Company has limited budget for any

marketing activities • Staff <100; Annual Turnover < $5 Million• Been with the company 5 years after

returning to the job market as a home maker

DEMOGRAPHICS:• Female • 40-50 years old, Married, 3 children, 1 dog • Combined Annual Income of $80,000 half

of which is the husband’s income • Lives in a sub-urban home in need of a

renovation IDENTIFIERS:• Stressed for time; career driven• Juggles many commitments• Caring, understanding and nurturing

towards family• Can be short-tempered as nurturing of 3

children is difficult

GOALS:• Show ROI on previous year’s marketing so as

to continue marketing efforts this year• Create buy-in for campaign so as to raise

morale and brand imageCHALLENGES:• Budget management, metrics reporting • Learning of change management tactics as

well as new digital marketing knowledge to transition into digital marketing

HOW WE HELP:• Big Influencers show a single comprehensive

view of the stable of influencers that we have measured against interest areas, current social media presence & detailed performance metrics with each new job

• Platform that allows for direct communication between blogger and brand so correspondence & selection criteria can mirror Co’s goal to show ROI

MARKETING MESSAGING:• Instant focus group as

bloggers are young adults and relatively more open to start-ups & SMEs.

ELEVATOR PITCH:• There is a ready group of

bloggers to drive the brand awareness of a brand that is relatively unknown.

• Because Big Influencers is a social media platform where sharing and metrics capturing is there, no separate system or extensive training is needed.

AMATEUR BLOGGER– HOMER

BACKGROUND:• Works in a Nuclear Power Plant• Sees himself as humorous and creatively

brilliant with no outlet for expression• Recently found out about blogger and

wonders if he could turn it into a full time job so that he can stay home all day

• LOVES foodDEMOGRAPHICS:• Male• 40-50 years old, Married, 3 children, 1 dog • Combined Annual Income of $80,000 half of

which is the husband’s income • Lives in a sub-urban home in need of a

renovation IDENTIFIERS:• Juggles many commitments but is relatively

stress free• Happy go-lucky• Stable job with a loving family

AMATUER BLOGGER– HOMER

GOALS:• Wants to use his creativity as a money

making opportunity – job transitioning • Fame Fast- leverage on big brands

willing to pay for his humorous insightsCHALLENGES:• Somewhat Technologically proficient

since he is working in a nuclear plant, but will need some training on how to create an interesting blog detailing his daily adventures

owners and seasoned bloggers who will give insights to up and coming bloggers like Homer on how to go about in starting a money-making, award winning blog
