Welcome to the grooviest night at The Franklin Institute. Turn on your brain, tune in to the music and drop in on some cool science and deep exploration with tonight’s live science demonstrations and interactive activities. Peace. SPECIAL PROGRAMS: DJ SnakPak & DJ Breakfast All night in The Fels Planetarium on the 1st floor It’s an night of throwback dance tunes from the golden era of rock n’ roll. Groove to soul, psych, surf, mod classics, and anything else you can shake your tail feather to under the dome of the Fels Planetarium with the DJs from Bouant Bangout. The 60s: A Live Show Live shows at 7:15, 8:15 and 9:15 pm in Musser Theater on the 3rd floor Join us for this outtasight show as we take a journey through the groovy and tumultuous 60s. Utilizing a mix of film footage and live science demonstrations this wordless show will be a trip highlighting a decade of science breakthroughs and cultural milestones. Strobe eects and loud noises used during this production. No photography or video recording allowed. This free show has limited capacity. Tickets for all three performances of this show will be available at the Atrium Information desk on the 2nd floor starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Visitors with tickets will be seated starting 10 minutes before show time. Is Instagram the Pop Art of Today? Live Talk at 8:15 pm in Franklin Theater on the 1st floor Pop Art was bold, fast-paced, and of its time. Described by the NY Times as, “Brash, manic and acid-tinged,” Erica Battle, Associate Curator of Contemporary Art, looks back at the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s 2016 exhibition, International Pop and draws connections to the world of social media today. Quizzo Rounds begin at 7:10, 8:10 and 9:10 pm in Franklin Foodworks on the 2nd floor Put on your flower crowns and join us for this edition of Science After Hours Quizzo! Winners of each round get a free pair of tickets to the next Science After Hours. Tie Dye Rocket 7:45 pm in Science Park, entrance by Imax Theater on the 2nd floor Celebrate the decade that gave us the summer of love and the landing on the moon with a colorful explosion at this can’t miss demonstration that will be tie-dye for! (Weather permitting) Lunar Lander Tours Tours begin at 7:10 and 8:10 pm Join Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts as he walks and talks you through the Grumman Lunar Module, parked here at the museum. (Weather permitting) Meet by the Imax Entrance for the 7:10 tour. For the 8:10 tour, join us out in science park for the Tie Dye Rocket at 7:45 beforehand or meet outside by 8:05 pm.
