The OverviewThe Overview

You will choose a writer and work from the Southern Gothic tradition in American literature. For this assignment, you must find information concerning the writer’s background, define “Southern Gothic Literature,” explain the gothic elements used throughout the work, and explain how the writing reflects the author’s life. This, of course, means reading and quoting from the entire work, not just sections of it. The paper must contain an outline, 3-6 page paper, and a Works Cited page. Also, photocopies of all 4-8 sources must be highlighted and turned in with the paper.
