Hospice House & Support Care of Williamsburg

In appreciation for and in supportof the ministry Hospice Househas given over many years to ourWBC families and the greaterWilliamsburg community, the

Deacons are sponsoring a collection of supplies during the month ofAugust. As Hospice House receives no public funding, it relies onprivate financial gifts and gifts of supplies. Collection bins in whichto place donations of supplies will be located in the FellowshipLounge and in the Narthex throughout the month.

Items that Hospice House can always use are: Tide High Efficiencydetergent; Clorox bleach; bathroom tissue; paper towels; papernapkins; plastic drink cups; Styrofoam cups; paper plates (luncheonsize, microwaveable); juices (single serving cans: apple, cranberry,prune, orange); sodas: Coke, Diet Coke, Ginger Ale, Sprite or Pepsi(½ cans); cookie and brownie mixes; men’s t-shirts (new, white, allsizes); ladies nightgowns (new, soft cotton); white wash cloths andhand towels; copy paper (96 bright, 20 lb).

Should one wish to make a financial gift, checks payable to WBCwith Hospice House noted in the designated line should be placedin the collection plate or sent to the church office.

Notes from NancyWell, finally, John and I are residents of Williamsburg. We will nolonger be riding the ferry across the JamesRiver each Sunday morning to come tochurch. We are now just ten minutes awaywhich is exciting to me! I will miss being in thecountry, but I am so excited to be closer toour church family. John and I give a heartfeltthank you for your phone calls, cards andhousewarming gifts welcoming us toWilliamsburg. We are blessed to be here andto be a part of the WBC family.

The move to Williamsburg is not the onlymove in store for John and me. As members of Williamsburg BaptistChurch, we will be moving with you. I bet you had not thought aboutour church moving. Well, the moving I am talking about is movingforward. If we don’t move forward, we will fall backward. I am excitedto see what God has in store for us as we move through this time oftransition. With transition comes change. There will be changes;after all, we are in the midst of change. The next several monthshold excitement and challenges for us, ones that we need in orderto be the church God has called us to be.

My prayer is that as we move forward in discovering who we are andfinding our vision, we will walk hand in hand and remain focused onthe God who loves us and called us unto himself.

Does your car carry the RED BALL?Members of the church family should have a WBC parking decal onall their vehicles. This allows you to park in our lot throughout theweek. Do respect the posted spaces along Prince George Streetwhich are designated for Tribe Square occupants, except onSundays. Contact the office if you need a decal.

Deacon of the MonthMary Gallimore is our Deacon of theMonth for August. Born in Vinton, VA,Mary graduated from Radford Collegewith a B.S. degree in ElementaryEducation. She retired after 35 years ofteaching in Bedford County,Montgomery County, and Williamsburg-James City County Schools. Maryvolunteers at FISH and is a member ofthe Williamsburg Knitting Guild whereknitting is done for charity. She chairsthe church’s Women for Missions andstarted the WBC Knitting Group. Her hobbies include reading,knitting, and crocheting.

Forever Young August Activities

i Thursday, August 1Bring a bag lunch to the South Wing at noon. We’ll enjoywatermelon and a few games. At 2 pm, we’ll take in thefree movie at the library: “Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation”with Jimmy Stewart and Maureen O’Hara. (Mr. Hobbs is anoverworked banker whose wife plans a quiet seasidevacation with their family including the grown daughters,family cook, sons-in-law and grandchildren.)
