Alamo ASHRAE,
Our new year has begun, and I would like to thank everyone that has volunteered to be onthe Board of Governors or be a Committee Chair. We have a great mix of new and re-turning leadership. If you are interested in becoming more involved with our Chapter, please let anyone on the BOG know.
We already have some great lunch programs planned, but if you have any ideas to contrib-ute please send them to us quickly. Our YEA programs and activities are growing, and weare looking forward to great things from this part of our Chapter. We are working onputting together a Skeet Shoot for the Fall in addition to the Annual Spring GolfTournament.
Our first meeting will be the Annual Kickoff in August and I look forward to seeing every-one there. Please encourage someone at your office or associate that is not a currentmember to come and join us! I challenge each member to promote ASHRAE in the com-munity, at the office, or in social settings. We are all looking forward to an awesomeyear, and that is only possible due to the membership and leadership that we are lucky tohave.
Sincerely,

USGBC Central Texas-Balcones Chapter Monthly Meeting Announcement—Wednesday, August 8th.
Know the Energy Code
On Wednesday, August 8th the USGBC Central Texas-Balcones Chapter will host our first Monthly Meeting featuring a discus-sion of the upcoming changes to the City of San Antonio's building energy codes. The City is considering adoption of the Interna-tional Energy Conservation Code (IECC) 2012 and will begin a stakeholder review process to consider the feasibility and effectsof this change.
Laurence Doxsey of the Office of Environmental Policy will provide an introduction to this effort as a part of the strategy toachieve net-zero energy construction for all buildings by 2030. This will be followed by a presentation by Gerald Kettler, Man-aging Principal and CEO of Facility Performance Associates, about the significant changes inherent in the 2012 revision of theIECC for both residential and commercial construction.
With energy codes growing increasingly complex and stringent, it’s more important than ever before to have a thoroughknowledge of impending prescriptive requirements and how they affect compliance in the Central Texas region.
You are encouraged to partake in a unique opportunity to receive a detailed overview of this important subject. It will be heldat Paseanos restaurant at 555 E. Basse Rd. Suite 100 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 8th.
The cost for members is $30 and $35 for non-members and lunch is included. For more information and to register clickhere but you may also contact me or Pam Losefsky ([email protected]) for details. I hope you are able to be apart of our first Monthly Meeting and look forward to seeing you there.
