    Perahera First Aid Services

    The Sudhdhodhana Maha Maya Maha Perehera is one of the biggest Perehera in theMaharagama Division that took place on the 27th, 28th, 29th and the 30th of March 2013 inthe PannipitiyaDewuramwera Temple.

    Being one of the major First Aid activities conducted by the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society(SLRCS), Colombo Branch the branch provided 30 numbers of First Aiders from theJunior Red Cross Circles in various schools and also officials from the branch werepresent to assist the Perehera in supplying water and First Aid making this service a

    ood Donation Programmes

    blood donation programme was conducted on the 16th of March 2013 at the Heraliyawala Unit in the Homagama Division on theth of March 2013. There were 40 numbers of blood donors where 40 pints of blood were collected from the heraliyawala area.

    e main objective of this programme is to encourage the existing donors to regularly donate blood, encourage new people tonate blood on a voluntary basis and promoting the protection of individual health.

    hramadana Campaigns

    amadana Programmes were organised in the area of Lahirugama, Nawinna and Sangarama on the 16 th of March 2013 followingwith a shramadana programme in Siyamabalagoda on the 29 th of March 2013.

    ere were 70 numbers of volunteers in the Lahirugama area, 138 numbers of volunteers in the Nawinna area, 25 numbers ofunteers in the Sangarama and Siyambalagoda area each contributing to clean the community environment.

    e main objective of this campaign was to make sure that the community of the Heraliyawala area have dirt free area and alsoeasing the awareness of re cycling & re using solid material to create a greener future for the future generation.

    uring dissemination programmes the history of the Red Cross, its seven fundamental principles, our humanitarian services alongth the Geneva conventions are mentioned and described in detail to the community to give a better understanding about the Redoss movement.

    number of dissemination programmes were done for a total number of 162 students in Colombo district schools during thermation of the Junior Red Cross Circles (JRC). Dissemination exams were also done to make sure that the students have a properowledge on the Red Cross.

    rst Aid trainings were conducted by the branch for schools in the Colombo District on the 05th, 06th, 08th, 11th, 13th, 14th and 18th of

    arch 2013 for the JRCs formed in these schools; a total number of 178 students were trained on First Aid.

    e SLRCS Colombo Branch along with the District Disaster Management Centre (DDMC) conducted First Aid 01st and 19th ofarch 2013 at the Mattegoda Vidyalaya and the Meegoda Artigala Balika Vidyalaya where the students were educated on basicrst Aid tips given in case of any day to day emergency.

    ese Children were educated on junior first aid where basic first aid tips were given so that in case of a day to day emergencyese children would know how to react and minimize the amount of risk.

    stributions of spectacles were done by with the Lions Club of Maharagama and Helpage Sri Lanka on the 02 nd of February 2013 atwekarama in the Maharagama Division and Kandawalawaththa in the Moratuwa Division.

    e SLRCS Colombo Branch coordinated with the units and the organizations helping the Lions club of Maharagama distribute a totalmber of 57 spectacles and Helpage Sri Lanka distribute 47 numbers of spectacles.

    e main objective of this programme was to provide spectacles for those who have refractive errors by thoroughly screening themmunity.

    evention and Stress Management Programmes

    cohol and drugs have been a serious problem to the young and old generation of Sri Lanka and many people in some parts of thisuntry have an easy access to alcohol and drugs on a daily basis.

    e Branch conducted two numbers of programmes on the 06 th and the 23rd of March 2013 in the Ambalangoda and the Welivitaeas thus increasing the awareness and the support of alcohol and drug prevention programmes by engaging the community tontify the disadvantages of alcohol and drugs used in the community.

    eanwhile stress management programmes were conducted on the 30 th of March 2013 in the Lahirugama area where 35 numbersparticipants were present from the area. The stress management programme educated the community on the impact of modern

    ponsorship programme was conducted by the Colombo branchd No Limit Private Limited for the Nawinna Raja Maha vihara inwinna.

    Limited considered this as a Cooperate Social ResponsibilitySR) project and donated paint worth Rs. 26,400/= and initiallynsidered it to be the first phase of the CSR Project.

    e Second phase of this project was the renovation of theshroom by installing fittings, donation of wall and floor paintproximately worth Rupees 115,000/=.
