Why are They ComparedIn fact, they are not comparable! Wagner’s ring is a cycle of four epic operas although considered as a single work. German composer Richard Wagner composed the ring cycle from 1848 to 1874 and named as Der Ring des Nibelungen.

George Lucas actually borrowed the plot and music for his masterpiece series Star Wars from Richard Wagner’s Ring. The Star Wars series are among the top grossing movies of all time. But critics say Star Wars is a purely commercial creation, not counted at all as a work of "art".

Why are They ComparedDespite the fact that the stunning Star wars series made top grossing in cinema history it cannot bite the opera Wagner’s ring by any means.

Although there exist so many parallels between Wagner’s art and Star Wars, George Lucas had to struggle to employ many of the complex devices for musical symbolic and thematic integration that Wagner so seamlessly achieved in his greatest operas.

The films share a strong thematic link with Wagner’s ring in that they portray the mythical adventures and fate of a heroic within a complex storyline consisting of multiple installments.

Wagner’s Ring Vs. Star Wars Both Wagner’s ring and Star Wars are borrowed work.

Wagner borrowed the theme from several of the Teutonic, northern European myths and he succeed to create a new myth for the modern era.

On the other hand, the Star Wars trilogy creatively copied the plot and music from Wagner’s ring. Star Wars serieses were very successful in earning money.

Even more than 20 years after the initial release they are living presence in the minds of thousands of people and developed as modern myth.

As both of two works developed from myth they can be analyzed to investigate the possibility of common traits. Both Wagner’s ring and Star Wars are creative whatever they are borrowed from.
