You may choose which planet to visit. Each planet is the source of a different type of

book, as you will see on the next slide. On each planet you will have a mission to accomplish. Your aim is to visit seven planets to complete your Book Trek…

and not get lost on the way!

The Planets and the Types of Books:

Mercury – Mystery/Crime

Venus – Love/Humour/Short Stories

Mars – War/Adventure/History

Jupiter – Biography/Autobiography

Saturn – Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Neptune – Animals/Sport

Pluto – Horror/Ghost/Travel

Examples of the Missions (Should You Choose to Accept Them):

1.Describe a moment in your book that was exciting or dangerous. (Mercury)

2.What is your favourite animal or sport? Say why, in 10 lines. (Neptune)

3.Where is the story set? Describe the place and say if it is set in the past, present or future (10 lines). How is the world in the story different from your own? (Saturn)

How do I Qualify for the Book Trek Scheme?

To qualify as an astronaut worthy of Whitchurch High School’s Book Trek, you must undertake a course of training. This training will prepare you for the challenge of Book Trek by introducing you to samples of the missions you will encounter in Yr 7. For example, after reading your book for 10-15 minutes you will be asked to choose a mission such as designing a new front cover for your book or writing a few paragraphs about what you think happens next. You will be expected to make your best effort at all times and remember, reading is vital to your success! Good luck, young Earthlings!
