The State of California and AccentureAn Enduring Commitment, a History of Success, and a Strong Future Together
Innovative, energetic, pioneering, strong. They’re words that describe the State of California and one of the most productive partnerships in the State’s history—its partnership with Accenture.
2
A Quarter Century (and Counting) of Shared Success
Accenture is proud to have been a leading partner to California government since 1989. For more than a quarter century, we have worked to bring to fruition dozens of projects within the state, including some of the largest and most critical systems in the state’s public and private sectors.
For example, working in close collaboration with our clients in California, we modernized the largest public pension system in the country and the third-largest pension system in the world through our work on the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. For the California Statewide Automated Welfare System Consortium IV, we helped more than 13,000 eligibility workers across 39 California counties to better determine eligibility, issue benefits and manage caseloads, improving the services offered to more than 2 million beneficiaries.
We are proud of our extensive experience partnering on some of California’s most successful projects, including:
• California Healthcare Eligibility, Enrollment and Retention System (CalHEERS)
• California Child Support Automated System (CCSAS)
• California Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA)
• California Franchise Tax Board (FTB)
• California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS)
• California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)
• City and County of San Francisco
• Consortium C-IV
• Financial Information System for Calfornia (Fi$Cal)
• Joint Venture Silicon Valley Network
• Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS)
• Staff Central Statewide Implementation
• University of California Office of the President
Through these programs and many others, we have grown to understand the State of California deeply—its unique demands, challenges and aspirations. That knowledge has helped us develop innovative solutions that reflect the needs of a state unlike any other: An enormous state, home to deserts and forests, mountains and valleys. The most populous state in the nation, with a proud mix of cultures. A progressive state. An inclusive state. An innovative state. A state that celebrates what sets it apart and draws its strength from the multitudes who are drawn to it, even as it rises to the challenges inherent in its size and diversity.

Skills to SucceedAccenture’s 2014 Corporate Citizenship Report, Making a Measurable Difference, highlights our efforts to collaborate with others to improve the way the world works and lives. It also features a set of ambitious new 2020 goals for Skills to Succeed and Environmental Stewardship.
Accenture has partnered with the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and Upwardly Global to provide basic mentoring and coaching in the areas of resume writing, mock interviewing and professional networking. Through this partnership, Accenture has hosted a series of job skills seminars in which participants are mentored by Accenture employees to gain the skills necessary to attract employers and begin successful careers.
In Northern California, Accenture is partnering with KIPP, the Knowledge is Power Program, to deliver college and career readiness training to high school and college students nationwide through Future Focus, a comprehensive college and career readiness program.
Accenture in Southern California is building job readiness skills in the community beyond the traditional educational setting. In San Diego, we host periodic interview workshops with the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) to help the formerly incarcerated enhance their interviewing skills, along with other job readiness training opportunities. In Los Angeles, Accenture works with Chrysalis to help the formerly homeless preparing for employment, and with Homeboy Industries to support the skills training of former gang members who want to redirect their lives.

Strengths to Grow OnAt a corporate level, Accenture’s clients span the full range of industries around the world and include 89 of the Fortune Global 100 and more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500. As a technology leader and digital innovator, Accenture has built a 50+ year history of collaborating with our clients to help them become high-performance governments and achieve their missions. Among our most noteworthy accomplishments, we count our successes implementing the Fi$Cal, CalHEERS/Covered CA, CalPERS, C-IV and DCA systems within the State of California. Again and again we have brought the experience gained from thousands of projects annually to deliver
innovative solutions for California. At the same time, we have gained a deep appreciation for California’s specific project management standards and implementation complexities.
We’re proud of how we’ve helped make a difference in California. We feel privileged for the opportunities that have allowed us to grow in the Golden State. And we’ll continue to bring the same level of commitment, understanding and passion to all our ongoing and future engagements here. We are a part of California, and we’re here to stay.
The Power of DiversityInclusion and diversity are fundamental to Accenture’s culture and core values, fostering an innovative, collaborative and high-energy work environment. Having a diverse workforce of people with different capabilities, cultures, perspectives, abilities and experiences enables Accenture to compete effectively in the global marketplace—including California.
Growing a diverse workforce continues to be a priority for Accenture in California. We continue to aggressively recruit people with diverse backgrounds, and are on track to surpass our previous high marks. In addition, our employees in the Golden State have organized multiple Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including Hispanic American and African American groups. Open to all employees, the ERGs provide a focal point for networking, career growth and community outreach.
