• To eliminate deaths and injuries on Nevada's roadways so everyone arrives home safely.
• The Governor shall administer through an appropriate agency the highway safety programs of this state and those of its political subdivisions in accordance with the Highway Safety Act of 1966. (NRS 223.200)

16TH ANNUAL ROADMAP REPORT OF STATE HIGHWAY SAFETY LAWS
• Published annually by Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety
• In 2019, Nevada maintained its "Yellow" status for the second year in a row
• In 2018, Nevada was upgraded to "Yellow" from "Red"
• Identifies 16 traffic safety laws designed to save lives
• Seat belt law upgrades
• Child Passenger Safety: Booster seat use until 57 inches and rear facing
through age 2 law
• Graduated Driver Licensing(GDL): Minimum age of 16 to receive permit
with a cell phone restriction
• Require all new drivers to have basic driver's training regardless of age

NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF STATE LEGISLATURES TRAFFIC SAFETY TRENDS
• In 2017, state legislators debated nearly 2,000 traffic safety bills:
• Legislation on impaired driving was considered in 48 states, with over 450
bills debated
• Distracted driving continues to a big concern, 44 states considered more
than 230 driver-distraction bills
• 36 states proposed new legislation related to teen drivers
• 38 states tackled issues related to speeding/reckless/aggressive driving
• 24 states considered bills related to use of red light and speed cameras
• School bus safety, older drivers, driver licensing, motorcyclist safety, and
pedestrian/ bicycle safety (including electric bikes) were also looked at
