The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the French government to the U.S.A in 1884 to honor the ideals of freedom and independence.
This huge statue became a symbol of hope and freedom for hundreds of millions of people.
The Statue of Liberty’s complete name is Liberty Enlightening the World.
For immigrants the statue was a strong, welcoming figure holding out the promise of freedom and opportunity.
The Statue of Liberty stands 151 feet 1 inch high from its feet to the top of the torch. Also it weighs 225 tons.
In 1924, The Statue of Liberty became a national monument. Also, it was constructed and built by Gustave Eiffel a French engineer.
The Statues strong but flexible design enables the copper skin to react to low wind temperature.
