Timeline• If it goes ahead, HS2 will set up the

residents would be in limbo, not knowing whether their property would be required for construction.

The Route in South Yorkshire

Page 9: The Stops HS2 Bramley Action Group Public Meeting 14 Sep 16

The Route in South Yorkshire• The route broadly follows the line of the M1

north from Chesterfield.• A viaduct would take HS2 trains over the existing

railway on the Sheffield to Lincoln Line, over Pigeon Brook Bridge floodplain near developments at Waleswood and over the A57 Aston Bypass before reaching the major M1 motorway exit at Junction 31 at Aston.• The line would run straight through the riding

stables in Aston.

Page 10: The Stops HS2 Bramley Action Group Public Meeting 14 Sep 16

The Route in South Yorkshire• Passing through fields and the wind farm at Ulley,

the HS2 line would then switch to follow the route of the M18 motorway, with a viaduct over the M1 and Wood Lane, taking it close to Thurcroft.• Running immediately to the West of the M18 the

HS2 route would pass through the bottom of the Broadlands estate in Bramley before crossing under the road at Junction 1 of the M18 next to the Hellaby roundabout.

Page 11: The Stops HS2 Bramley Action Group Public Meeting 14 Sep 16

The Route in South Yorkshire• The HS2 route would then split from the M18

passing Braithwell and Firsby Resevoir before crossing under the A630 between Hooton Roberts and Conisbrough.• The route then heads out toward the

Dearne Valley and Mexborough as it heads North West on to Leeds

Safeguarding – what is it?• This is an area of land either side of the track, usually

covering an area of approx. 60 meters. • All property and land that is within the safeguarded

area is subject to planning restrictions. In other words, HS2 have control over any planning applications made. • Safeguarded areas have varied in size on Phase One

Page 13: The Stops HS2 Bramley Action Group Public Meeting 14 Sep 16

What if my property is within the zone?• The only scheme that is currently available for

residents is the Exceptional Hardship Scheme.• Other schemes will only be announced if Phase2 b

(our route) is approved.

The current scheme is based on market value plus 10%.2.Blight Notice - You can serve a Blight Notice on the government, who will then purchase the property at market value, plus 10%. Once your Blight Notice has been accepted by the Secretary of State, you can ask HS2 to note your interest in renting your property back from the Government.
