11 Then Jesus said, There was once a man who had two sons:

12 The younger one said to his father Father give me the share ofthe property that will belong to me. So he divided his assets

between them.

13 ot many days later, the younger son pac!ed his bags and went ona "ourney to a distant country. There he wasted everything he had

14 Then after he spent everything, a severe famine too! placethroughout that country and he began to be in want.

15 So he went and attached himself to one of the citi#ens of thecountry who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.

16 $e longed to fill his stomach with the hus!s that the pigs wereeating, but no one gave him anything.

17 %ut when he came to his senses he said $ow many of my father&shired wor!ers have more than enough food to eat but here ' am

dying from hunger(

18 ' will arise and go to my father and say )Father, ' have sinnedagainst heaven and against you.

19 ' am no longer worthy to be called your son* treat me as one ofyour hired servants.&

2 So, he got up and went to his father. %ut while he was still a longway his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and

embraced him and !issed him.

21 Then his son said to him, Father, ' have sinned against heavenand against you

feet

23 +nd bring the fattened calf and !ill it* let us eat and celebrate24 For this my son was dead and has come to life again* he was lost,

and has been found. Then they began to celebrate

25 ow the older son was out in the field and as he came and drewnear to the house, he heard music and dancing

27 The servant said our brother has returned, and your father has!illed the fattened calf because he has received him safe and

sound
