The High School Road Shows are an excellent way to meet students and

build relationships with careers advisers in the very best schools across the

UK, by way of overseas study fairs and presentations. These schools include

public, private, grammar and state funded schools in targeted regions of the

UK, that we feel have the best profile for overseas study.

Developing a presence in UK schools is fundamental to a successful

awareness raising and student recruitment campaign. In the build up to the

Road Shows, our dedicated UK School Liaison and Operations Manager,

Anna Birbeck, visits the schools to prepare students for the event, often

giving an assembly talk to students in years 11, 12 and 13.

Each Road Show lasts 3.5 days and the group of universities typically visits

up to 12 schools, with access to more by collaborative hosting, where parents

and students from schools in the local area are also encouraged to attend.

The number of universities from each country is limited to 6 per Road Show,

to ensure our events maintain a truly global feel and aren’t dominated by any

one country.

the Road Shows to ensure your visit is a comfortable one!

For a non-selective state school, this school is an anomaly and features in ‘The Good Schools’

Guide’ which is the best regarded on line resource for parents. State schools that make it into this

guide are an elite few so this is a real indication of the exceptional teaching standards and

achievement of the students.

Students here achieve very good results, comparing extremely favourably with local and national

averages. In 2016, 81 per cent achieved 5+ A*-C grades including English and maths (59 per cent

A*-A grades). It is designated as a high performing specialist school with a languages specialism

(it was the first school in the borough to teach Mandarin from year 7 to 13).

The school’s motto is Vive Ut Vivas (live that you may have life) and the school extols this to the

full with partnerships with schools in Africa, India, China and Singapore. The school also has a

dedicated Director of global learning and communication who says, ‘We want to prepare our

students fully for the commercial and globalised world.’ This is mirrored in the fact that students

here are receptive to studying abroad and fully engaged in learning more about their options for

overseas study.

central London and five miles from Heathrow Airport on the historic 11-acre Hillingdon Court

Ibstock Place School (IPS) is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 4 to 18,

IPS is academically strong and its students perform very impressively in examinations. GCSE

results for 2015 were outstanding. 79% of all GCSE entries were graded at A* or A; this

achievement placed IPS in 13th position in the national table of 239 Independent Co-educational

Schools listed in The Times (29 August 2015). These were no exception - A-Level results for 2016

recorded a record-breaking average UCAS points score of 409 points per pupil.

In terms of life after IPS, all students benefit from an extensive Careers and Higher Education

Sutton Valence School (SVS) has the benefits of being both a day and a boarding school.

Sixth formers at Sidcot enjoy a more autonomous environment from that of the senior school; they do not have to wear a school uniform and not every lesson period is a formal class. This, together with an endless range of fantastic opportunities to achieve the best academic results, in an atmosphere of openness, encourages students to develop their own ideas and forge their own identity.

In order to provide all its students with a stimulating and creative curriculum, Sidcot offers the choice of studying the IB Diploma or A Levels. The ethos of the IB, with its broad curriculum and emphasis on study skills, community service and internationalism fits well with Sidcot’s Quaker values. Once students reach the sixth form they are assigned their own ‘Progression Adviser’ from Sidcot’s experienced Careers Team. This advisor is a sounding board and a mentor, helping the student plan their next steps whether it is choosing a university course, applying for an apprenticeship, or making decisions about a gap year. Students at Sidcot are encouraged to be ambitious and adventurous and when they leave they have confidence to make informed choices on what is right for them.

Last year 95% of students were successful in gaining a place at university, with 3% taking a planned gap year. Of those going to university, 86% secured their first choice of institution. Russel Group universities were attended by 54%, other UK universities by 41% and International Universities by 5% (which equates to around 8 students). This figure is likely to increase as there is a growing interest in overseas university destinations

Sherborne Girls has a thriving sixth form of over 170 girls. Sixth form girls are given considerable freedom and encouraged to develop greater academic discipline, responsibility for their own time management and a deeper interest in the world around them.

The academic programme caters for girls wishing to follow specific courses in depth (A levels) and for those who wish to maintain breadth in their education (International Baccalaureate). Their IB results in 2016 placed Sherborne Girls School in 10th place in the UK for ‘Small cohort IB schools’.

SAT preparation classes for those intending to apply to the US are held in conjunction with Sherborne (Boys) School from the start of each Michaelmas Term.

This event will also be attended by Sherborne (Boys) School, which features among the top 15 most sought after UK independent schools for boys. It has days fees of £29,340 and full board fees are £36,255.

Kings Bruton School was founded in 1519 by 3 eminent men who originated from the town of

Bruton. There has been much change since the School was founded nearly five centuries ago,

and the Founders’ original avowed aim of producing ‘perfight latyn men’ has been greatly

modified to suit 21st Century needs. Nevertheless, true to its traditions, the School still has

close links with the town and the parish church, and students continue to be encouraged to

develop their abilities in a friendly, stable, but progressive, environment as a preparation for

life in the modern world.

Life at King’s is full of variety and opportunities. Pupils enjoy a broad and challenging

academic curriculum. The Sixth Form at King’s is a place where ambition and aspiration is

encouraged both in the now and for the future, and pupils are guided in their paths ahead.

Kings Bruton students are consistent in their success at A Level. Out of 151 who took A Levels

in 2016, there was a 100 % pass rate, with 66.2% achieving A*- B grades.

At Warminster, Sixth Formers can choose between the traditional A Level programme or the

highly rated International Baccalaureate Diploma, both of which produce strong results. The IB

average score for students is 34.3, well above the world average. A levels are also of a particularly

high standard with a 100% pass rate and 100% A*-B in 7 subjects.

A new IB qualification, as a post-16 option will be offered from September 2017 at Warminster

School. The IBCP is a post-16 qualification which incorporates the values of the IB into a unique

programme addressing the needs of students engaged in career-related education. The

programme leads to further/higher education, apprenticeships or employment. Students

undertake academic study through IB Diploma programme subjects, accredited career-related

learning, and through the IBCP core ‘learn how to learn’ and engage with real-world issues. The

IBCP Core, good performance in two Diploma Programme subjects and in the Career-Related

study combined can yield the equivalent of BBB at A Level. The IBCP provides the required

mixture of academic, personal and career-related development to prepare pupils for a fast-paced,

ever-changing world which values work experience more than ever.

To fully understand Bedales you need to understand something of the school’s history and

evolution. Founded in 1893, as a humane alternative to the authoritarian regimes typical of late

Victorian public schools, it’s founder believed that involving “head, hand and heart” was the key

to growth and development. This philosophy is still the corner stone around which Bedales’

innovative education system is built.

Bedales aims for its students have remained ambitious, both academically and more broadly, in

terms of students’ personal development. Even today, the contrast between Bedales and other

schools remains strong. Bedales believes that its informal approach engenders a genuine sense

of partnership between teacher and student and a shared excitement about ideas and

educational discovery. Educational innovation continues with bespoke ‘Bedales Assessed

Courses (BAC)’ which can be taken as an alternative to GCSEs in years 10 and 11. The BAC

allows students the freedom to find themselves extended beyond the confines of the GCSE
