  • INT. BEDROOM NIGHT

A WOMAN sits on the bed within a hotel room. Only a sheet

covers her skin, and her hair, its tangled and messy. This

is ALICE SUMMERS (37), and her eyes reflect the city

outside: wide and full of wonder.

A CLATTER from the bathroom turns Alices attention. She

    smiles lazily.

Standing near the bathroom door, a dim light coming from

just beyond it, is SAM GREY (35). Dressed in sweats and a

sports bra, she crosses her arms. She doesnt smile, only

    looks at Alice serenely.

    ALICE

    Come here.

Sam moves slowly. She crawls onto the bed, hovering over

Alice to give her a quick KISS. She sits next to a

concerned Alice, on the edge of the bed.

Sam rubs her hands through her hair. Alice, on the other

hand, moves Sams hair away from her neck and presses her

lips to the back of her shoulder.

    Their hands meet, fingers intertwining.

    SAM

We should get away. From here,

    from this place. Anywhere but

    here.

Outside, a siren goes off. From inside of the hotel room,

the sound is muffled yet distinct.

    ALICE

You want to go out now?

Alices smile is playful, but Sams muscles tense.

    SAM

No. I meant out of the city.

    ALICE

    Oh.

  • Alice loses her composure, playful smile falling for a

moment, but then it reappears again.

    ALICE (CONTD)

You want to take me on vacation?

Sam sighs. Its obvious shes used to the banter, but it

    grates at her unusually.

    SAM

    Sure.

A silence settles on the both of them, like the mask of

early dawn filtering through the windows. Sam is a million

    miles away from here, already.

    SAM

You know what? Forget I said

    anything.

Alice makes a decision. Her smile flickers like static when

she reaches for Sam. She digs her nails into the flesh of

Sams palm, and then brings her hand up and presses it

    against her lips.

    Sam sighs again.

    ALICE

    Where would we go?

Sam looks toward the bathroom, warm light in her eyes.

    SAM

    I dont know.

    Alice noses against Sams shoulder.

    ALICE

Half the time, I dont know where

Im going until Im walking up to

    the ticket counter.

Sam turns to look at her, finally allowing herself to smile

just a bit. Her eyes drift to Alices lips, currently being

    bitten in an alluring smile.

  • SAM

We should go. My boss would let

me. Im due for some time off.

    ALICE

    We will. Now kiss me.

Her kiss holds the weight of the promise. Sam grins into

Alices lips, and the two of them fall back onto the bed.

    Alice squeals under Sams touch.

They bury themselves in the blankets, Alices laughter

filling the room and blocking out the sounds of the city

    outside.
