I decided to lose myself in the World

The  true  story  of  Zelda  Roc      Zelda   Roc   is   not   only   a   blog,   it’s   a   cartoon  with   a   very   defined  personality   and  point  view.    When   I   started   Zelda   Roc’s   blog   my   aim   was   to   communicate   fashion   in   a  different  way,  so  I  thought  about  it’s  character  as  a  girl  who  was  able  to  realize  all  her  wishes  without  limits.      Zelda   Roc  was   born   on   January   the   6th,   in   the  middle   of   the   night  while   I  was  laying  in  my  bed  and  thinking  “I  need  to  write  for  me,  I  like  the  culture  of  fashion  and  I’d  like  to  express  it  in  an  original  way”.    The  main   inspiraHon  came  from  two  books   I  was  reading  at   the  Hme  :  “Lessons  about   fashion”   by   Gianfranco   Ferré,   wriMen   by   Maria   Luisa   Frisa,   and   the  biography  of  Coco  Chanel.  As  soon  as  I  watched  them  lying  on  my  bedside  table,  I  had  a  flash  of  inspiraHon.    I  stood  up  from  my  bed  and  I  went  in  another  room  where  there  was  a  shelf  with  some  high  school  books.  I  saw  among  them  a  Maths    one.  I  thought  immediately  that  I  always  think  about  what  I  like,  but  I  never  think  about  what  I  don’t  like.    Idea!   I   imagined   a   nice   character,   an   intellectual   but   very   ironic   girl   with   her  personal  view  of  the  fashion  world.  She  likes  to  discover  new  creaHve  people,  she  culHvates   the   past   of   fashion   and   she   loves   Paris.   She   hates   maths   and   she  doesn’t  like  people  who  are  not  able  to  dream.  

How  can  I  call  this  girl?    I  wanted  a  name  starHng  with  “Z”  like  my  real  surname.  I  started  to  look  for  women  known  in  the  history  of  art  and  Literature   for   their   strong   personality.   I   found   Zelda  Fitzgerald   and   I   red   her   biography.   She   was   the   perfect  inspiraHon.  The  name  of  my  character  would  have  been  “Zelda”.      And  what  about  her  surname?      I   thought   about   one   of  my   favourite   personaliHes   in   the  world  of  art  and  literature  at  the  end  of  the  19th  century:  Henri-­‐Pierre   Roché.   He   wrote   the   semi-­‐autobiographical  novel  “Jules  et  Jim”  which  inspired  the  homonymous  film  directed  by  François  Truffaut.    My  final  dissertaHon  at  University  was  about  Henri-­‐Pierre  Roché.   I   remembered   that  he  used   to  sign  his  first  works  with  the  pseudonym  “Roc”.      So,   the   name   of   Zelda   was   completed.   Zelda   Roc   was  born.      

The  beginning    I  say  thank  you  to  my  sister  Daniela  for  giving    a  shape  to  my  imaginaHon  

It’s  clear  that  he  hasn’t  read  my  last  post  about  the  “Kelly”  by  Hermès!
