Some things we tried toincrease our chancesMy best friend and I triedinoculating the trees withtruffles and the followingyear nothing came happened.Yeah, we haven't figured itout, and we got ripe trufflesand pureed it to release moresprouts.

Leaving a spot alone for thefollowing year, thinking wewill get more truffles the yearafter. Nope, that’s a lie! Wecame back and found more. Itjust depends...

Variables that you might not findtruffles through my experiencethese reasons and conditions willhappen.

There is frost or snow thathappen this year or happens allthe time.

Last year you will find truffles inthis certain spot, and now youcan't find them there...Well, it can be you that damagedthe area and didn't push back thedirt to cover exposing them todry out the roots, or you justpulled roots out in general.Nature has it's way of teaching ushow to look after things.

I see all the signs, but can'tfind a bloody truffle, what'sgoing on?Since truffles are a veryweak fungus actually togrow your own truffles itcan take up to 40 years tohave area (So I'm told..)cleaned out of no plants ortrees then you can finallyplant a tree

I found the trees that growthem, after the five-yearmark, nothing less due tomore shade...Yes, it can grow on oldertrees, and can producetruffles, but you still needbirds and rodents to spreadit with it's drippings.

Digging up the dirt and it islike clay or it is clay.

Now if you have seen allthe signs and nothing still…This will be this reason too.Well, if you see heaps oflittle holes the rodents ordeer it is perhaps that theyhave eaten them, that’s agood thing! They willspread the spores.

My first year I went trufflehunting I spend most of it inthe car because it was so bloodycold.

Don't go crazy digging fasterbecause your friend found atruffle, you'll end up findingsome and breaking them in halfwith a rack. Patience is the keyI understand the first truffle isthe most reward thing ever!

Bring snacks like bars orsomething, not sandwiches ormeats that attract animals.Again one year I decided not tobring snacks... God that wasstupid I was more focus onhaving food more thansearching for truffles I’m sure Iwas a drag to be with, so don’tdo the same.

I'm not going to lie to you;my best friend taught me alot of it! Kevin Blaylocktaught some of the stuff here,but I have expanded on frommy experience. First thing islooking for a lumber mill,which is the highest chanceof finding them. Because yourule out the chances of astronger fungus than trufflesand wasting time to test thesoil if it's the right kindsounds like a pain and nor doI care to learn takes the funout of it.

Kevin Blaylock said to me in mysearch, nature doesn't haveborders like mankind. InOregon and Washington forexample, why would there onlybe truffles in Oregon does itjust simply cut off when it hitsWashington? The answer isclearly noNow think about somethingdeeper what kind of trees arethey growing?People like to brag, and itmakes it so much easier to findthem on the internet becausepeople brag saying they foundthem.

So what I do for research tofind them. Type in a city andthen some farm or lumbermillwill say they found them.

Now here is the cool part evenif you know there is some, andyou call the lumber mill or afarm to see if you can come andsearch for them and they sayno. Guess what?
