About doTERRA:

Gas Chromatograph Testing Process: The FDA requires that in order for a company to legally claim that their essential oils are 100% pure, the oils must be subjected to a test called a Gas Chromatograph. Each essential oil contains several constituents. For example, Lavender has 70 constituents that make up the oil. The Gas Chromatograph checks to make sure that each of constituents that should be in the oil, are in fact in the oil. Once the oils pass this test they can be labeled 100% pure essential oils. There are several problems with this test, one of which is that this test doesn’t check to see if there is anything in the oil that should NOT be there. For example; pesticides, synthetics, or weeds that may have been accidentally harvested with the plants.

The founders of doTERRA felt this standard was not high enough. They wanted to be sure their oils were truly 100% pure essential oils so they created a new standard of essential oils called “Certified Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils”. To ensure that the end consumer was buying only the highest grade of essential oils to be found in the industry doTERRA has required their oils pass a second test called the Mass Spectrometry.

Mass Spectrometry Testing Process:

The Mass Spectrometry test takes quality one step further. This test checks all the constituents in the oil and also checks for any contaminants such as pesticides, synthetic chemicals, or weeds. This test is expensive which is why other companies don’t use it. Even though we have added this test the founders are taking a little less profit so our prices are equivalent to other high quality oils. All testing is done by third party laboratories; not in house. Because of this doTERRA has refused many batches of oil because they didn’t pass these tests and meet the doTERRA CPTG standard.

How to use Essential Oils:

Research has shown that doTERRA Certified Therapeutic Grade essential oils are:

• Antiviral • Antibacterial • Antifungal • Anticancer • Antiparasitic • Antimicrobial • Anti-Infectious • Antitumor

When using doTERRA essential oils there are three main methods that may be used:

• Topical – Topical application is one of the most common ways to use essential oils. You can apply essential oils directly to the area of concern or on the bottom of your feet. Why the bottom of your feet? The bottoms of our feet have larger pores than any other location of the body allowing the oils to penetrate easier and quicker. Essential oils have been proven to penetrate your skin within about 30 seconds; making relieve quick and effective. Some oils, such as cinnamon, oregano, and cassia are considered “hot” oils and may irritate or burn the skin. It’s recommend too dilute these oils with coconut oil. Always be sure to avoid your eyes, and ear canals.

• Internally – Most doTERRA essential oils can be taken internally via mouth. You can place 1 to 2 drops directly in the mouth, in a glass of water or use vegetable capsules available at most health stores. It’s very important that only high quality essentials oils be taken internally. You need to be sure that the oil is free from chemicals, unnatural compounds and 100% pure. doTERRA has taken the steps for you to ensure you’re getting safe, pure, and quality tested oils.

• Aromatically – The fastest way to feel the effects of essentials oils is to simply smell them! You can inhale the oils directly from the bottle, place a few drops in the palm of your hands, or diffuse them into the air. Diffusing essential oils has many benefits such as purifying the air and killing airborne bacteria.
