The Twelve Apostles

The Twelve Apostles is a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Cambell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria

Originally the site was called

The Sow and Piglets

The name was changed in the 1950s to present the name recalling the biblical The Twelve Apostles

The others are located behind the rocky headlands of the Victoria coastline, or hidden by other rocky outcrops

From the lookout, you can only see a number of The Twelve Apostles

Other well-known stacks in Port Campbell National Park created by erosion are the London Arch, Loch Ard Gorge and the Island Archway

Sunrise and sunset offer particularly impressive views as the Twelve Apostles change colour from dark in shadow to brilliant sandy yellow under a full sun.
