THE UGANECZ FLYER
When we last wrote, we were in Sentani, Papua, and Covid-19 was a topic in the news, but not yet a reality in
our lives. Now we find ourselves in Mission, BC, living our days much differently than normal. When the threat
of the virus became real in our town, we had a decision to make, and within 24 hours, we packed and left our
home and Tehya’s childhood and were on a plane back to Canada, two months earlier than our planned
summer furlough.
We all have our stories from these months, and some of us have been hit harder than others, but all of our
lives have been affected, and life as we know it may never be the same. From the richest to the poorest, this
sickness, or the spillover from it, has touched all of our lives.
MAF flights in Papua are down to less than 50%, and the Papuan government is trying to keep the interior
people safe by setting curfews and limiting transportation. But as is the case in developing nations, isolation,
soap, running water, and medical facilities, are not options. MAF continues to fly supplies interior, even
delivering rapid tests and teaching about physical distancing. And although we are here, your support
continues to help the work of MAF around the world, serving those in need.

He is faithful. Seasons come and go; we age, we learn, we grow. He remains the same, walking
beside us through our valleys. What is He teaching us? What is He doing through this time? These
are the things I ponder these days. Let us press in and embrace this time to rest. And for those
who can’t — you who are fighting sickness and more stress than you’d like, let us know how we can
be praying for you. This is an unprecedented time. We know that He is sovereign and He is good.
Thank you for cheering us on over the past 20 years as we have walked the path the LORD has
led us to follow. Whether we’re thousands of miles away, or just six feet apart, from our place of
isolation to yours, sending you air hugs and our love, Chris & Jules.
