Monday 19th August

The UK Experiential Education Programme includes three days of high quality CPD on the very best of UK Education. It is the must-attend programme for all teachers and leaders of international schools, whichever curriculum you are following.

Held at Wivenhoe House and the University of Essex’s Knowledge Gateway, this programme provides teachers and leaders from Europe, the Middle East, China and the rest of the world with the opportunity to learn the very best practice in UK Education from our award-winning consultants.

Tuesday 20th August

• Understand how to design, develop and implement an effective curriculum that is broad and balanced.

• Discover how other schools have successfully innovated in curriculum design to benefit teaching and learning.

• Learn what is meant by “Intent”, “Implementation” and “Impact”, and how these criteria can help your school think about and develop its curriculum.

• To include a tour of The University of Essex (Winner of University of the Year 2018).

• Focus on developing pupils’ questioning, in whole class situations and in pupil-to-pupil questioning.

• Look at what reasoning and thinking mean, and how to develop metacognitive reasoning and thinking skills.

• Discover a monitoring framework, which focuses on the learning and not the teaching as a way to assess the quality of the provision in classrooms.

Wednesday 21st August

• Consider how to ensure others work for and with you to achieve your vision by creating a team that is positive and empowered.

• Consider how best to delegate leadership throughout your team and build your leadership capacity and vision.

• Understand the key roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of middle leaders and relate these to the latest frameworks.

• Discover dozens of exciting and engaging activities to support and embed the high quality teaching of reading and writing.

• Consider the barriers children face to learning writing and experience a range of collaborative games to help children generate creative ideas.

• Discover a range of strategies that can support children in becoming confident readers, able to tackle a whole range of questions around a text.

• Learn how to provide context to learning situations to develop children’s mathematical language, procedural fluency and conceptual understanding.

• Discover strategies to develop mathematical fluency and reasoning skills in learners.

• Explore how we can nurture maths problem- solving skills and move children towards mastery.

• Discover how we can support the mental health and wellbeing of staff, teachers and pupils.

• Consider what impact this has on all levels of learners, as well as the motivation, recruitment and retention of staff.

• Explore how we can encourage all individuals to be more self-aware, and engage them in activities that benefit the whole school community.

About the programme leaders

David Maytham,Head of Education

David is a former fast-track teacher, education expert and school leader with a proven track record of supporting schools in delivering outstanding results. David has worked in and with a number of schools across the UK and overseas, including failing schools, in which he played an integral role in turning them round.

David has experience of working in every primary year group, was the Lead Writing Teacher at the first Writing Demonstration School in the country and has worked on research projects on behalf of the UK Department for Education.

In 2012, David founded TT Education. He spends his time working with schools across the UK and overseas to raise standards. He runs training days, INSET days and national projects, as well as leading a highly creative team of teachers and other educational professionals to develop exciting and innovative educational products for schools.

David is also a lead trainer for our Inspired to Lead National Leadership Programme and on our Executive Leadership Programme, which he runs in collaboration with the University of Essex. This programme combines the cutting-edge research from a UK top-25 university for research excellence, with TT Education’s award-winning Leadership and CPD training, which has been accessed by over 60,000 teachers in the UK and beyond.

Adam is passionate about ensuring young people have the best education opportunities possible, so he focuses on training and developing educators to ensure they are best placed to improve life chances for their students.

Adam is a leadership expert, and has particular expertise in data analysis, operational leadership, ethical leadership and leading change. He has worked closely with hundreds of primary, secondary and special schools. This includes schools of varying sizes, including one-form entry primary schools and schools with high levels of English as an Additional Language.

Adam has led in, and helped to improve, primary and secondary schools across the country, predominantly from areas of high deprivation – and has consistently demonstrated a professional approach to successfully building capacity in schools, ensuring they are capable of sustainable improvement.

Originally a Business Studies and Economics teacher, Adam diversified into vocational education (accreditation and training), curriculum leadership and timetabling, assessment (moderation, quality assurance and analysis), technology developments and training (governing bodies, new teachers, middle leaders, senior leaders on NPQSL and senior teams). Adam holds National Professional Qualification for Headship and Safe Recruiter status. Adam is a lead trainer on our Inspired to Lead National Leadership Programme and Mastery in Leadership programme.
