There’s a stillness in the summer’s heat that bids us look within—
Search the heart, confess, forgive—sweep out doubt and sin.
Ask ourselves, ‘How is it, with this soul that I’ve been blessed?’
Strengthen faith, pray and praise, take a Sabbath rest.
___________
There’s a stillness in the summer’s heat that bids us look around—
Notice all the beauty with which this world abounds,
And give thanks to our Maker; but in looking, also see
The trials neighbors find and face. A light to the nations be!
____________
There’s a stillness in the summer’s heat that bids us look above—
To know we are surrounded, filled, by the Savior’s love.
To feel the sun upon the face, and smile, knowing true—
Within, around, above, below—God’s grace with me, with you.

IMPORTANT Time to Make a Choice…
The Question: Are we willing to step up and do what is
needed to remain a full-time church, or will we be going
part-time next year?
It’s time to make the decision. Our District Superintendent
is willing to work with us in establishing plans to become
truly financially stable and remain full-time, but we need to
be willing to do the work necessary to make it happen.
Please reach out to the church office, the pastor, and/or
members of the Administrative Council and SPRC with your
opinion, concerns, and questions.
A decision will be made at a joint Ad Council/SPRC Meeting
on Monday, June 4th, at 7pm. All are invited to attend.

Prayer for June
www.prayingeachday.org
May my horizon this day, Lord, not be so foreshortened that I notice little.
Instead, open my eyes that I may see afar and above
as well as in front and beneath me. Lead me to keep my life in perspective and balance
and discover that the thread of your presence is interwoven through the events and people of this day.

Obituary of Joseph Scala
Not everything in this life has a happy ending, but this life is not the end of the story…
Joseph Arthur Scala passed away at his home in Mt. Tabor, NJ on May 6. His laughter, selflessness, loyalty and charisma will be dearly missed. He was born to Joseph and Mae Scala (Davenport) in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. After Joseph completed High School he continued with his passion to help others. He served his country as a United States Marine. Following that he proudly served for the Morristown Police Department for 25 years. He had great enthusiasm when it came to giving back to the community and helping those who needed it. Joseph volunteered at the Great Swamp aiding with the habitat and preservation and BRIDGES charity organizations where his involvement was to feed the less fortunate. Joseph had a lot of faith which was shown through his active membership in the United Methodist Church, the Ocean Grove Choir Festi-val and Presbyaires. When he had down time from serving others he enjoyed anything outdoors from landscaping and kayaking to working on his tan; working out at the YMCA in Mountain Lakes and above all spending quality time with his family. He was an incredible father, brother, uncle and grandfather. Joseph was predeceased by the love of his life, Deborah Morse Scala. To live his legacy on are his adoring daughters Sarah McNally (Robert) and Cindy Scala; caring sisters Sharon Johnson and Theresa Scala; brother-in-law Craig Morse; loving nephews and nieces John VanWart (Elizabeth), Jason Scala, Danielle Scala, Kimberly Dooley, Tracy Scala and Kev-in Morse (Josephine); cherished grandchildren Shane and Patrick McNally and many other great-nieces, nephews, cous-ins relatives and friends. His grandson Gavin Joseph McNally is due next month and there is comfort in knowing that he will have two guardian angels looking over him. Friends and family may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 9 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Dean Home for
Services, 16 Righter Avenue, Denville. A service will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist
Church, 5 Simpson Avenue, Tabor. Memorial donations are being welcomed in his honor to the United Methodist
Church by way of www.inmemoryof-memorial.org. Please share a memory or leave a condolence for the family and
keep them in your prayers at this time.

WELCOME
The United Methodist Church at Mount Tabor is a community of faith-filled friends who seek to grow closer to God through the ministry of Jesus Christ and by the guidance of the
Holy Spirit. We celebrate the history of Mount Tabor, and look with hope toward the future. Everyone is welcome here; everyone is cherished here; for everyone is a child of God. All are welcome to participate with us in our journey of faith, regardless of back-
ground, theological stance, or personal characteristics. We rejoice in God creating us to be a diverse family; and we strive to follow the Spirit’s leading as one, while maintaining and upholding our individuality. Because of the current official stance of The United Methodist
Church, we feel it is important to state a welcome to those of all sexual orientations and gender identities—You are welcome here.
God loves you just the way you are; and so do we.
