This weekend John, Bronwyn, and Jarrod are in Busselton as John completes the Mission-Shaped Ministry training he has undertaken this year, while Bronwyn and Jarrod have some welcome time-out together. They will not return to Merredin until this evening, so we have Steve Higgins preaching at Merredin and Mukinbudin this morning.
There are some important events happening over the next month you should be aware of. Firstly there is the Regional Gathering at Mukinbudin next Saturday 28 October and it would be good if the whole Parish could support Mukinbudin in this, It will start with morning tea at 9.30 and run until about 3 pm. Then we have our third combined Parish service for the year in Southern Cross at 11 am on Sunday 29 October followed by a BYO picnic lunch in the park. This will be the only service in the Parish this Sunday. There will be cars leaving the church at Merredin at about 9.45 for those who would like a lift.
The annual Light Shine Party, an alternative to Halloween, is on again this year and we are organising catering (see below for details) and need volunteers. Letting Margaret Dalton know if you will be there will help with planning.
We also have an election for Merredin Elders on 19 November. Please get your nominations to Debbie Tengvall, Liana Foster, or Bob French in writing before 5 November (email addresses are elsewhere in this newsletter). Check that your nominee is willing to be nominated beforehand. This is an important election because Lisa Arthur will no longer be available as Elder.

Light Shine Party
Once again the Uniting Church is organising catering for the Light Shine Party at
Merredin’s Seventh Day Adventist Church hall on Tuesday 31 October. Margaret needs
volunteers from 5 to 8 pm to help prepare food, serve, and clean up afterwards. Please
let Margaret know if can help.
Election of New Merredin Elders
The terms of Lisa Arthur and Kevin Tengvall as Elders in the Merredin congregation
expire on 1 January 2018 so we need to elect replacements. The election, for a 3-year
term, will be held at the congregation AGM on 19 November. Nominations close after
the worship service on 5 November. Both are eligible for re-election but Lisa will not be
renominating. Please give careful prayer and thought to a replacement.
