For these advances to be beneficial, people from all walks of life must be able to understand and use them. The College’s writing-intensive liberal arts programs allow students to become such practiced communicators.

Psychology has become a sought-after field of study for many. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for psychologists and related professionals is expected to grow faster than average for all occupations through 2016. This is due to increased demand for psychological services in schools, hospitals, social service agencies, mental health centers, substance abuse clinics, consulting firms, and private companies. National University offers comprehensive programs for those interested in this growing field.

Students who study lab-intensive science programs take the first step to a lifelong career in discovery. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, careers for biologists, researchers, conservation scientists, and foresters continue to grow for all occupations through 2016. These programs put students on the path to becoming life science and earth science teachers as well. National University’s bachelor-level science programs also prepare students to enter specialized graduate programs.


UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

CONCENTRATION IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION †This program provides a broad base of introductory business-related disciplines. Students completing this degree and concentration are prepared for entry-level positions in business and/or articulation into a bachelor’s degree program in business.

CONCENTRATION IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION †The concentration in Criminal Justice Administration prepares students for many entry level positions in the criminal justice system, including correctional officer, police officer, juvenile hall counselor, or jailer. Students also gain basic skills necessary for better paying security positions,

bail enforcement agent, or private investigator apprentice. Some credits earned in the program can be transferred to partially fulfill the requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration.

CONCENTRATION IN PROFESSIONAL GOLF MANAGEMENT †In this concentration, students prepare for careers in professional golf course management by gaining a fundamental understanding of the knowledge and skills required for introductory positions in the golf industry. The coursework focuses upon managerial competencies, playing proficiency, and an understanding of the importance of the concepts of wellness and peak performance.

The Associate of Arts degree offers students a solid foundation for continuing traditional studies, as well as intellectual and professional growth. The following concentrations are available:



CONCENTRATION IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION †The Public Administration concentration prepares students for many entry level positions in public administration. Students gain a working knowledge of public administration theories, policy development, and basic accounting necessary to perform in the field of public administration.

CONCENTRATION IN VIDEO GAME PRODUCTION †This program provides a foundation in the software and design process used in two-dimensional and three-dimensional and digital video media production. Students are introduced to the latest professional software used in graphic and interactive design, digital video editing, and 3-D modeling. This program also provides transition courses for students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in digital entertainment and interactive arts.

ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN HEALTH SCIENCE AND PRE-NURSINGThe Associate of Science in Health Science and Pre-Nursing degree is designed to give students a solid foundation for continuing intellectual growth and further professional studies leading to a career in nursing or other health science-related fields.

BACHELOR OF ARTS IN ENGLISH WITH SINGLE SUBJECT MATTER PREPARATIONDesigned to prepare students for careers teaching middle or secondary school English or language arts, this program is approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Students who complete this program and the required portfolio will not be required to take the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET) in English to receive their teaching credential.

BACHELOR OF ARTS IN ENGLISH WITH A PRELIMINARY SINGLE SUBJECT CREDENTIAL †The Bachelor of Arts in English with a California Preliminary Single Subject Credential provides a rigorous education for a career as a teacher of English at the middle and secondary school levels. BACHELOR OF ARTS IN HISTORY †The Bachelor of Arts in History is a broad-based program that has specific goals including engaging the mind and imagination of those who study history; introducing students to worlds, times, places, and cultures – including their own – in ways they have never before considered; and promoting the acquisition of historical knowledge and critical thinking, reading, writing, and research skills. MASTER OF ARTS IN COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGYThis degree emphasizes marriage and family therapy for students who are committed to the practice of individual, couples, family, adolescent, and child psychotherapy. The degree meets the academic requirements necessary to sit for the Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) License mandated by the Board of Behavioral Science in the state of California and by the Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Licensed Professional Counselors in the state of Nevada.
