Having pursued biotechnology for past 10 years, I understand just enough, the implication of genetically modified food on humans and the environment. But also on the positive side, the good things biotechnology can offer, which can make organic farming easier. My eternal passion for living a healthy and clean lifestyle and love for nature, turned me into becoming an advocate for organic food and lifestyle.
When my passion and knowledge merged, I didn't have to look further from home. "Sikkim Organic Mission" an excellent initiative by Government of Sikkim to convert the entire agriculture land of Sikkim into organic farming by 2015, was ground breaking and applauded by many. I spotted a business opportunity and also a way to give back to my people, my society and my country. So, here I am now, an avid organic food preacher, a passionate believer and an aspiring entrepreneur.

How is your
startup different from the
other startups?
Walden is a marketing and retail company working closely with the primary producers at a grass-root level. We interact with them periodically which gives us a deeper understanding of the process and pain-points of small-medium size maginalised farmer. This allows us not only to bridge the gap between primary producers and the cosumers, but tell story which leads to the better appreciation of the output. We are empowering the famers by creating a value chain and a life long relationship with the end customers.
How is your
startup transforming India?
We believe, Make in India is not only about things happening at a larger and
grander scale. Make in India has to start from a grass-root level for strong
foundation of our nation. Organic farming will best benefit small-medium size
states, with small-medium sized farmers. By preaching and promoting organic
farming, we are not only conserving and preserving what we have, but also
helping small-medium sized marginalised farmers by reducing cost input and
connecting them globally through value chain creation and building life-long
relationship.
