Victorian Inventions

• The Victorian period saw many major developments that made travel, communications and trade much easier for many people. The railways allowed people to travel cheaply and rapidly, opening up new possibilities for both rich and poor. Many of the things we take for granted today, such as photography, telephones, electric light bulbs and cars were invented in the Victorian times.

Victorian schools

• In the early Victorian era very few children went to school, the only children that went to school were the ones with wealthy parents. As the 1880s came there was a law that stated children had to go to school. Life at a Victorian school wasn’t very nice, if you did something wrong then you would either get the cane or you would have to where the dunces hat.

Victorian Leisure

Seaside towns such as Blackpool and Margate became popular resorts. Trippers and holidaymakers enjoyed things we still enjoy today: ice cream, fish and chips, riding on donkeys, paddling and making sand castles.
