The Search Begins

Our Search for a new pastor will be officially underway asof March 31. On that day, we will be taking the first stepby electing a Pastoral Search Committee. Two days laterthe committee will meet to get organized and make plansabout how to proceed.

The committee will be working with Rev. Gary Ferner, arepresentative from the New York Conference, who willprovide us with resources and advice about the processalong the way.

One of the first tasks for the committee will be to developa profile of our church which will be shared with potential candidates. We will be inviting all of youto be part of a self-study process that will identify our church’s imagination for the future and ourpastoral needs. This vision will be an important part of our church profile, so we hope that everymember will participate and take this opportunity to share their views.

Once our profile is prepared, our Conference will advertise our open position to UCC clergyacross the country. Then our Search Committee will read ministerial profiles, screen candidates, conduct interviews, check references, and eventually select a candidate who will berecommended to the entire congregation. Our goal will be to elect, in a unified way, a new pastorwhose gifts God can use with us and among us for the sake of the Gospel.

This is an exciting time for our church! A time for new possibilities and envisioning our future.During this time of searching, we will continue to “be the church” with worship, fellowship, Biblestudy, fund-raisers and mission, while we care for and support one another as we always have.We invite you all to share this journey, as we discover what new thing God will do in our midst.

Strengthen the Church

UCC Offering

Each day, visions and dreams arecreated in the hearts of many inthe United Church of Christ.Through the Strengthen the Church offering, they can become a reality. As God calls ourcongregations to be “church” in new ways, yourgift will plant new churches, awaken new ideas inexisting churches, and develop spiritual life inour youth and young adults.
