The Echo
As Semester One draws to a close, we are get-ting excited – not quite as excited as we get when there’s brioche in the Dino, but fairly close.
The end of Semester means that we are beginning to write The Echo, the annual RMC Yearbook.
This is where you come in!
To make The Echo more meaningful, we’d love to have contributions from the Menzies Commu-nity – send in your stories, food reviews, photos, quotes, screenshots from Facebook or SnapChat ... anything that has made 2014 memorable
All the best with Finals, and we hope you enjoy the Last Edition of The Voice for Semester One
Catch you on the flipside,
Roger & Benjamin

This is the story of a boyWhose antics were neither shy nor coyWhose name shall forever beEtched in Menzies History
Allow yourself to be regaledWith what is a short, but memorable taleAbout a lad, Jimmy his nameAnd his meteoric rise to fame
You see, Jimmy Kirk had a bad liverDrank so much, he could fill a riverMaybe not that much, it was still insaneHow much alcohol was slain
Dubbed “Patches” due to his fresher cutYou would think it would stop there butJimmy went further, he had to putAn RMC tattoo upon his foot
And during the scav hunt, what should occur“I think we lost Patches”, everyone concurredIt seemed that for the durationJimmy Kirk somehow stayed in Central Station
His O Week remarkable, his antics rememberedUnfortunately though, his ties would be severedPoor Old Jimmy’s liver just could not dealSo ends the tale of Patches, bring on the feels

Upper hand Both Girl’s and Guy’s Teams had some skilled players on them and we had a wonderful cheer squad
Big moment Hannah Stephens scoring the first goal against Dunmore, putting Menzies in front — followed up by some fabulous footwork between Hannah, Laura and Julia, which resulted in a second goal just before full time!
Things went swimmingly for Jocelyn who played an abso-lutely amazing match; shut-
ting down a lot of breaks and setting up numerous opportu-nities to score.
What does it all mean? With the Girls Team’s win, and both the Guys matches ending in draws, we are almost at even points with DLC! •

RMC’S GREEN INITIATIVES FOR PLANET LOVING GOODNESSAlthough the Semester is draw-ing to a close, Menzies Environ-mental awareness is stronger than ever. Here are the Green initiatives to keep in mind.
This Rerm (just like the movie Clockwork Orange) we have been ‘R Rated’ – Reducing, Reusing and Recycling. These concepts are three small ways to make a big difference to our impact on the environment.
reduce your paper use: write on both sides of lined paper, use the reverse side of old print for notes and print only when you have too!
Buy a shopping bag that can be reused: not only will your shiny new bag not split open, you will be helping to lessen the amount of plastic waste present in the environment.
recycle flat batteries: make use of the RMC battery stor-age container in the members lounge to dispose of batteries safely. RMC has introduced a battery recycling container in the Members’ Lounge

IVANHOE STUDY SHED
RMC is continuing its relationship with the Salvo’s in our local community. We have a number of Members volunteering in the home-work support program ‘After-school @ 47’.
Here are some thoughts from some new Members to the program:
samuel cooperFrom the second I had seen the door, I had little balls of concentrated sugar and en-ergy (a.k.a. children) scream at Benjamin and I that the Bulldogs were better than our team – not that either of us really supported a team. Then, for the next hour or so, I was jumped on, yelled at and tipped. I even had a drawing contest with a 6 year old (I lost). It was a great experience!
nicole o’dowdThey were great kids; it’s exhausting but lots of fun. It was a very rewarding after-noon!
