ANNOUNCEMENTS
Prez Lynda announced the upcoming SCARC Dinner, hosted by the Santa Rosa West
Club on March 30, Fountain Grove Inn. at 6 PM.
Jerry Ogden announced the upcoming Dinners for
Eight, to be held on Thursday, April 6, or Saturday,
April 8. Sign-up to attend AND to be a host!!
Prez Lynda began the meeting by highlighting events regarding polio, under the theme,
“Why End Polio Now?” In 1988, Rotary International launched the Global Polio
Eradication Initiative; at that time there were 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries. In
2017, there are only 3 countries with polio, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan, AND
there are only 3 new cases of polio!
Prez Lynda reminded us that “Green Hair Day”
is this Friday: St Patrick’s Day, March 17. We will
meet at Costeaux for hair-dying at 6:15, followed by a
group photo at 6:50. The parade starts at 7:00.
Prez Lynda presented PE Kate with a green wig to wear on Friday, Green Hair Day
The District Training Assembly is Saturday, April 1, 8 AM, at Mendocino College,
1000 Hensley Creek Road, Ukiah. The Club will cover the $50 registration fee. Who
should sign-up? YOU, and all new and current Board Members!
Prez Lynda thanked the 8 Rotarians who volunteered for the Healdsburg High’s
Internship Presentation Night.

RECOGNITION
Prez Lynda presented former Red Badger, Neale
Miller, accompanied by wife, Linda, with his Blue Badge.
Congratulations, Neale!!!!!
PP Dr. Dave celebrated University of Michigan’s
win, and donated $10 Happy Dollars to Polio Plus.
Artie Stein was pleased to be able to speak on his last
day with our club, March 27, and donated $100 to the
Foundation.
PROGRAM
Henk Peeters introduced today’s
speaker, Joaquin Blanco-Pelucarte,
Exective Director, Healdsburg
Education Foundation (HEF). HEF
has 2 main goals: to provide a 21st
Century education for our (public
school) students, and to close the gap
between students from different
backgrounds. HEF is the fundraising
arm for the Healdsburg School
District. It’s budget for the 2016-17
school year is $332,820. All students
in Healdsburg Junior and and Healdsburg High get lap tops, and a group of talented students has
been trained on how to fix them.

RAFFLE: Jean Herschede won today’s raffle, but did not
draw the winning marble. She did receive a lovely bottle of
Bertapelle wine.
CLOSING: Prez Lynda thanked visitors and guests for coming, and rang the bell.
