During Revolution, many Northern states took steps to end slavery.
I.E. Pennsylvania barred people for buying new slaves but were allowed to keep their present slaves
The War at Home

an experience military hard to maintain. Why?
Civilians: People not in militaryHardships were wide spread with food
shortages and military attack.

By 1779, spread all the way to New OrleansMore people died of this disease in the
