  • Black Seeds – SinFor all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin entered the world. Because of their disobe-dience we are born with a sinful nature. There is no one righteous, not even one. Sin separates us from fellowship with God. The black seeds in the watermelon remind us of our sin. But God loves us and has provided a way for us to be saved.Genesis 3:1-5; Romans 3:9-24; Galatians 5:17-24

White Core – Clean HeartBlessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Matthew 5:8When we repent from our sins and confess them to God, He forgives us. Jesus’ blood cleans us from our sins. He takes away the darkness of sin, and leaves our heart white and pure. The white core of the watermelon speaks of a clean heart. When we are saved through the blood of Jesus we turn from sin and live a holy life. The Bible calls it being sanctified. Now, our heart’s great desire is to serve God.Psalm 51:7,10; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 10:8-11; 1 John 1:7; Hebrews 12:14

Yellow Bloom – HeavenMy Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? John 14:2The watermelon grows from a beautiful yellow bloom. This golden color makes us think of the streets of gold in heaven, and the marvelous home that Jesus is preparing for all who love Him. Everything will be wonderful in heaven. Our hope as Christians is that Jesus is coming back to take us to our heavenly home. Jesus is coming soon!Revelation 21:1-5; 22:1-7, 20; John 14:1-6

Green Rind – GrowthBut grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18The green color of the watermelon rind represents growth. When we receive the forgive-ness of our sins and eternal life through Jesus Christ, we need to grow as God’s children. Prayer and reading the Bible, God’s Word, helps us grow in Christ.2 Timothy 2:1-15; 3:14-17; Colossians 3:1-17

Red Center – Jesus’ Blood For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23Jesus is God’s great Gift to the world. He came to restore our fellowship with God. Jesus died on the cross for you and me, to save us from sin. There is no other way of salvation. To be saved we have to repent from our sins and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. The red center in the watermelon makes us think of salvation through Jes-us’ blood shed for us.1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 5:8; 6:23; Acts 4:12; John 1:12; 3:16
