ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN & YOUTH MUSIC This Sunday is going to be a busy and special day at McGill. It's already Palm Sunday! Our children are going to play a big part in our 10:45 am ser-vice. During our opening hymn, they will be parading down the aisles wav-ing palm branches. I think this may be one of their top favorite things to do every year. They are also singing "Antiphonal Hosanna" with the sanc-tuary choir. We will rehearse all of this on Wednesday night. We are also planning our music celebration service in May. There will be more details about that soon! I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

MINISTER OF MUSIC I really enjoyed our Guitar Ensemble in our worship services this past Sunday. This group has continued to grow and improve as the years have past. I was very proud of these musicians. I thought Sarah Wilson did an outstanding job on “A Living Prayer”. As I mentioned Sun-day, we have people from other churches in the area that participate in our Guitar Ensemble. It helps to spread the word about all our music program has to offer. Our Sanctuary Choir will be meeting this Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. We will be preparing for our Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunday services. This is an important rehearsal. I hope all can attend. I am looking forward to the BBQ this Friday. I will be playing with Jim Avett for both sessions. It should be lots of fun! See you this week!

“What do we really mean when we confess Jesus as

our Lord and as our Savior?” Operation Christmas Child

Year Round Project April-Crafts The dollar stores have a great selection of craft items. Each year McGill fami-lies participate in Opera-tion Christmas Child by filling shoeboxes. This year the money donated

from the Christmas Post Office (2016) will pay $7 shipping on 100 boxes. There is a chart and flier in the lobby with all the needs listed by months.

Thank You Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for the cards, phone calls, hospital visits, and espe-cially all the prayers. They were all very up lifting during my recuperation. Family and friends are always im-portant, but during sickness, they mean everything. God’s Blessings, Sandy Sanders

BBQ Information Please turn your money into Bruce Ar-rowood that you have collected. Those working on Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7 are asked to be at the church no later than 8:30 a.m. Please park Friday, April 7, in the field near the garden.

Desserts for the BBQ All McGill bakers are invited to provide desserts for the BBQ on April 7. Delicious homemade desserts are need-ed for the lunch and dinner meals and also for the take out orders. We can handle re-frigerated desserts for the meals at the church. Since space is limited please con-tact Trena or Linda if you plan to bring a refrigerated dessert. Non refrigerated items are needed for the take-out orders. (Last year the total for take-out desserts was over 600). Please bring your desserts to the McCoy classroom on Thursday afternoon, April 6. Thank you!

Palm Sunday They waved palm branches as He passed And hailed Him as their King; Yet, they knew not of the sorrow The coming week would bring. The glad acclaim would soon give way To jeers and mockery; In Pilate’s court He’d be con-demned To a cross on Calvary. But Jesus knew He was the price In God’s redemptive plan, The Sacrificial Lamb come down To die for sins of man. The centuries have passed and still He seeks those lost in sin, Pleading with unyielding hearts To repent and follow Him. On this day we shout our praise, O, let us not delay; The palm-strewn path of long ago Still leads to Him today. Kay Hoffman

Global Missions Offering Church Goal: $3000

Received: $1623 “The CBF Offering for Global Missions

and missions giving are so much more than a once-a-year passing of the plate. At its finest, the Offering has

the power to not only transform lives at home and abroad, but to also connect churches to God’s larger plan for the world.” – Martha Perusek The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s mission is to serve Christians and churches as they discover and fulfill their God-given mission. At the forefront of the modern missionary movement, Baptists have been forming together for more than two centu-ries to make disciples of all nations. The Fellowship supports long-term field per-sonnel serving in 30 countries, Student.Go interns and hundreds of short-term mis-sions teams annually. – from CBF Global Missions Discovery

Thank You To My McGill Family, Thank you for the many prayers, cards and visits during my hospital and nursing facility stay. Knowing I had the loving support of my family and friends kept me going, and encour-aged me to overcome this. I appreciate your kindness and support. Phyllis Galyan

Farm at West Cabarrus YMCA The Share the Harvest Communi-ty Farm is volunteer driven and fund-ed by grants and donations. Share the Harvest is a partnership between the Cannon YMCA, McGill, The City of Kannapolis and Peachtree Market. Produce from the farm goes to support the food minis-tries of Cooperative Christian Minis-try, Concord First Assembly Food Pantry, Cabarrus Meals on Wheels, bringing fresh vegetables to families in Cabarrus County. Without volunteers like you local hunger and poor nutrition will con-tinue to impact old and young alike. Go to the West Cabarrus YMCA website for Share the Harvest and get on their email list to become a volun-teer or to get updates. On April 8 general work days start from 8 a.m. until noon.

Thank You Dear Friends, Thank you so very much for your every act of kindness during our Moth-er’s illness and passing. What a com-fort to know she was loved, cared for, encouraged, and prayed for over the course of years. A special thanks to the Bereavement Committee, not only for the delicious meal provided, but for the kind words and opportunity to recall many pre-cious memories even as our every need was met. Our parents invested their lives to the service of their Lord through McGill, both the church “building” and the church “people”. Their touch will surely be felt, recalled and remem-bered for generations to come. The Family of Doris W. Hartsell

In Sympathy We extend our love and sympathy to Cann Nguyen on the death of his moth-er. Remember Cann as he travels to Vietnam for the funeral.
