THE POINT CHURCH - NORTH RALEIGH CAMPUSThis past September, Bill Finley sensed God calling him to put his YES on the table to be sent out to start a new campus of The Point Church in North Raleigh. In just a little over four months, God has provided over 70 members for their launch team and a permanent facility for them to worship and use 24/7. Bill and the team are working hard renovating the building and training their launch team for the March 20th opening. Waypoint Church Partners are fully engaged with the team in training, coaching and financial support.

Bill and Cindy are the proud parents of seven beau-tiful children. They both bring years of ministry experience. Cindy is a speaker, writer (cindyfinley.com) and the Associate Executive Director of RiverCross (rivercrossorg.org). Pastor Finley brings over 23 years of experience in pastoring and church planting. He and his wife Cindy have a heart to see people far from God pointed to Je-sus and to see the next generation raised up, equipped and deployed. To find out more about the progress of this new campus, go to facebook.com/pointchurchnorthraleigh.

THE POINT CHURCH - En EspaÑol

Waypoint Church Partners is working with The Point Church to launch services in

Spanish on March 6th as the next step towards planting a second Español Campus in Apex, a

growing community where the Spanish-speaking population is also growing.

Last year, an Apex Español Bible study began, and it currently averages 25-30 adults and 10-12 kids. Funding

partners are Waypoint and Christian Financial Resources.

The Point en Español - Apex is an extension of the first Point en Español Campus that launched in September of 2014 in Cary, NC. Four families

from Point en Español - Cary are being sent out to help start the new campus. The team consists of leaders in music, administration, teaching, and

evangelism.

Pastor Héctor Rengifo leads the project along with his wife of 34 years, Rosa. He has over 40 years of experience in pastoring and church planting, and works with a team of 3 church planter trainees to reach the Apex and Cary communities through the power of the Holy Spirit. Find out more about the progress of this new campus launch through www.facebook.com/pointespanol.

Jacksonville ProjectWaypoint is partnering with the Eastern NC Christian Men’s Fellowship to plant a church in Jacksonville, NC. Roger Burns is the lead planter. Roger recently served as campus minister at Mid-Atlantic Christian University and minister of Journey Christian Church in Elizabeth City, NC.

An hour north of Wilmington, Jacksonville is a growing city of more than 80,000 and home to Camp Lajeune, a large Marine training facility. With a population averaging under 24 years of age, it has been called “America’s Youngest City.”

Roger is completing a one-year residency with another church plant Waypoint helped to start, Two Rivers Church of Christ, in nearby New Bern, NC. Roger is also a member of the 10-month Church Planting Residency Cohort with Passion for Planting. The launch date for this project is projected for the spring of 2017.

Roger and Erin, his wife, are alumni of Mid-Atlantic Christian University. Roger completes his Master’s course work at Emmanuel Seminary this year. They have two young children, Bowen and Sadie.

For more information about this church plant, navigate to the “Jacksonville Project” FaceBook page. For more information about Passion for Planting and their distance residency program, see www.church-planting.net.

Knightdale ProjectWaypoint is planting a church in Knightdale, NC with Bobby Wallace as the lead planter. An emerging community on the east side of the Raleigh metro area, Knightdale has a population over 14,000 — a growth of 133% since 2000.

The projected launch date for this project is the fall of 2017. Waypoint is the managing partner; other fund-ing partners include the Eastern NC Christian Men’s Fellowship and Christian Financial Resources.

Bobby recently ended his ministry at Plymouth Church of Christ (Plymouth, NC) to begin a year-long residency

with LifePointe Christian Church in Raleigh beginning March 1st. Bobby and his wife of 15 years, Shari, are attending a church

planter assessment center with two other prospective couples near Atlanta from March 6 through 8.

Bobby attended East Carolina University before graduating from Mid-At-lantic Christian University in 2000. Bobby and Shari have four children, a

girl and three boys. You can stay up to date with the progress of this project by liking the “Knightdale Movement” on Facebook.

E2: Effective Elders is a national ministry that equips elders for leadership in the local church. Since 2009, E2:Effective Elders has taught leaders from hundreds of churches practical, biblical principles with immediate implications for their church. Waypoint Church Partners is bringing this great event to North Carolina and Virginia this October!

Gary Johnson has served in the preaching ministry for over 30 years, the majority as senior minister of Indian Creek Christian Church in Indianapolis. Dr. David Roadcup is a Professor of Discipleship and the Global Outreach Representative with TCM International. He has been in ministry for over 40 years.

Dr. James Estep is Professor of Christian Education at Lincoln Christian University and has been in the ministry since 1985. Together they make a dynamic teaching team that will have a positive impact on the leadership culture of your church.

Plan now to bring your entire Eldership team, your prospective Elders and ministry staff to this one-day event. Registration is just $29 per person. Lunch is included.

More details and registration will be posted soon on our website at www.waypointchurchpartners.com/events.

Four years ago, the Virginia Evangelizing Fellowship announced its vision to see seven churches planted across six continents to celebrate the International Conference on Missions coming to Richmond in 2015. Churches and individuals pledged financial support for these new churches. The VEF, now Waypoint Church Partners, is excited to tell you more about the churches that are beginning to form as a result of your generous donations.

The church plant on the African continent is being led by Togo Christian Mission. T.C.M. ministers directly to the Togolese in rural villages in the small West African country nestled between Ghana and Benin on the Gulf of Guinea. Their strategic mission to make disciples and multiply churches is accomplished by providing Christian education, medical care, and community development.

In Togo, the majority of people live on less than one dollar a day. Many practice voodoo worship and witchcraft. Among the people group that T.C.M. serves, nearly 20% of the population follows Islam, but only 5% are practicing Christians. Missionaries Kwame “Hammer” Afakule (a-FA-koo-lay) and his wife, Dela, and now their son, Dovene, a graduate of Johnson University, and his wife, Sara, encounter many obstacles: attacks from voodoo worshipers, economic distress, hunger, illness, and discouragement. However, over the past 25 years, they have remained faithful to God and He has blessed their work.

With your funds through Waypoint Church Partners, Togo Christian Mission is bringing the gospel to an unreached community named Kodje where the whole village practices either Islam or idol worship. T.C.M. is praying that many disciples for Christ will come from this community.

There is more to this story! To learn more about the church T.C.M. will be starting in Kodje and the other churches starting alongside the International Conference on Missions in Richmond, e-mail [email protected] to be added to our ICOM church plant update e-mail list.

Eighteen months ago, Venture Christian Church was excited to be moving along with the local YMCA into the Y’s brand-new building on the shores of the Dan River. While in many ways that building has been a blessing, it also posed some new challenges to be conquered in the constant setting-up and tearing-down of the mobile church. Now, Venture is taking the next step forward: leasing a vacant building in the very heart of an industrial neighborhood in downtown Danville that is experiencing a resurgence of construction and growth.

The location, originally simply a courtyard between two buildings, was converted into its own space several years

ago. The storefront has since been used as a party planning headquarters, a gym, and a tech company, but construction is currently under way to fully convert the space to suit the five-year-old church plant.

Eric and Kim Hash, church planters, are working with Rachel Woolard, Waypoint’s Director of Media, to update the space and fully brand it as Venture’s new home. Eric says, “We are so excited to have an awesome new space in the heart of the renewal happening in our city.”

Crossings Christian Church has gathered each Sunday in an open marketplace venue in downtown Roanoke, 16 West Marketplace, since their move in the fall of 2012. Beginning March 6, they transition one block away to another downtown location, The Spot on Kirk, a local independent concert venue.

In a strategic partnership with Crossings and a local Roanoke civic non-profit, Down By Downtown, the city of Roanoke is re-opening the venue after being dormant the past couple of years. The previous establishment was well known by the young adult crowd in the region as the place local ‘indie’ bands would get their start performing on the weekends.

Next door to the concert venue is a completely renovated second space that will house the children’s ministry on Sundays, community groups during the week, and serve as the 7-day-a-week office and ministry presence to the downtown community.

Church planter Josh Parrish says this about the partnership and the re-launch of their downtown plant in the venue: “With our relocation, we are going to have a much-needed feeling of permanency that we haven’t experienced yet as a church. Our new place definitely gives us our ‘ministry home base.’ We can now host multiple groups throughout the week; we have the space to begin our first youth ministry, and a permanent office.

“The city of Roanoke being behind this adventure is such a blessing. Their desire is to create community through the reopening of this music venue. They were intrigued and encouraged to discover how having a church meet at this location weekly would further the feeling of community.”
