MARION - Come to the Spring Garden Fairwhich will feature gardening tips, ideas andradio show host from “In the Garden.”

On Saturday, April 27, the fair begins at 10a.m. at the Tri-Rivers Career Center. Visit withlocal landscape companies, greenhouses, andother gardening enthusiasts who will answerquestions and sell gardening products.

Admission is $5 and will benefit the proj-ects of TWIG VI. Refreshments will be avail-able for purchase from local vendors.

OhioHealth Marion General Hospital’sTWIG VI/Garden Club of Marion is hostingthe fair. This volunteer organization suportsthe mission of Marion General by providingand caring for the rose beds surrounding the hospi-tal and the memorial garden near McKinley Park.

At 2:30 p.m., listen as featured guest speaker RonWilson, host of “In the Garden with Ron Wilson,”offers a casual discussion about “yardenings.” Hewill share a few timely tips, talk about container gar-dening, new plants and products, and help answeryour gardening questions. So bring your questionsfor "the yardboy."

Ron Wilson is the host of the American nationallysyndicated talk radio program "In the Garden with

Ron Wilson" which airs from 6AM to 9AM (EasternTime) Saturdays on many stations owned by ClearChannel Communications. The show originates fromWKRC Cincinnati, Ohio. The show is also broadcastcoast to coast on XM Satellite radio 165.

Wilson also does a 2 hour local version of the showfrom 10AM to noon heard exclusively on WTVN inColumbus, Ohio.

MANSFIELD - The Mansfield Symphony will cel-ebrate one of the greatest classical composers in his-tory at the Renaissance Theatre on Saturday, April27th at 8 p.m. with the Mansfield SymphonyConcert Ode to Joy: Bravo Beethoven!, part of theMansfield Motor Group 2012-2013 RenaissanceSeason.

Music Director Thomas Hong will take the podi-um for an unforgettable season finale featuringBeethoven’s popular Symphony No. 9. Audiencemembers will recognize the setting for this familiarwork as “Ode to Joy”. In addition, two other large-scale works by the composer will be performed,“Hallelujah” from Christ on the Mount of Olivesand the Fantasia for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra.Tickets for the concert are $37, $32 and $27 and areon sale at the Renaissance Box Office, by calling419-522-2726, and online all the time at www.mans-fieldtickets.com. Michelle Cann Guest Pianist Performs Bach,Debussy, Chopin and More

on April 21

ASHLAND -- Ashland University Department ofMusic will present a guest artist recital with pianistMichelle Cann on Sunday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. atthe Elizabeth Pastor Recital Hall located in theCenter for the Arts. The concert is free and open tothe public.

Cann’s program will begin with Johann S. Bach’sPartita no. 1 in B-flat Major, BMV 825, followed byClaude Debussy’s Images, Book I; and ElinorRemick Warren’s Concert Transcriptions of ThreeStephen Foster Melodies including “Jeannie withthe Light Brown Hair,” “Beautiful Dreamer” and“De Camptown Races.” After a brief intermission,Cann will conclude with Frederic Chopin’s Sonatano. 3, op. 58.

Beginning her studies on piano at the age ofseven, Michelle Cann has since placed in variousstate, national and international competitionsincluding the Music Teacher’s National AssociationCompetition, the International Russian PianoMusic Competition, the Gilmore Piano FoundationCompetition and the Blount Young Artists NationalCompetition.

At the age of 12 she appeared on NPR stationWUSF 89.7 Tampa/St. Petersburg with her sisterKimberly, also a concert pianist, and later had theopportunity to perform on the nationally broad-casted radio show, From the Top, hosted by pianist,Christopher O’ Riley. She also was featured as thepremier performance on WRTI 90.1 Philadelphia'snew series, In Recital. She made her orchestraldebut at the age of 14 and has been invited to per-form with various orchestras including the FloridaOrchestra, Tampa Bay Symphony, FloridaSymphony Youth Orchestra and the ClevelandInstitute of Music Symphony Orchestra.

Most recently, Cann was selected to perform withcurrent students and alumni including Roberto

Diaz, president of the Curtis Institute of Music inboth Beijing and Shanghai, China, and Seoul,Korea. She also was invited to perform Gershwin'sRhapsody in Blue with the New Jersey Symphonylast March. Cann received her Bachelor of Musicand Master of Music from the Cleveland Instituteof Music and is currently a student of RobertMcDonald at the Curtis Institute of Music.
