ROADS vs Land use
The conclusion is that, whilst the historical picture is complex, the trend is a strengthening of road planning institutions, and weakening public transport planning. This situation appears to be out of alignment with current needs.Low & Astle 2009 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

The 'Australian strategy'. What strategy?Australian intellectuals may be fond of French theory, but as a nation we haven't figured highly in francophone thought. Perhaps it's another tyranny (or gift, you say?) of distance. We're just too far away from the Parisian salons - neither near enough nor exotic enough to rate. Recently, however, the influential French theorist Bruno Latour has invoked us, speaking of 'the Australian Strategy' in a widely discussed address to the Royal Academy in Copenhagen. Our national disorder is described as 'voluntary sleepwalking toward catastrophe' - a rather excruciating way finally to be noticed by the notable.
