Begin your afternoon by greeting your guide, one of our experience Workshop Artists, in our private conference room.

Start things off by enjoying your private tour through the Weta Cave Workshop tour space. Then duck inside the treasure trove that is the Weta Cave Shop and take a breather in your private screening of the shop’s exclusive behind-the-scenes documentary.

After your film your guide will meet you for your design process demonstration where a designer will help you explore and understand the technology we use to design almost anything you could dream of. Create something never before seen by taking control of this process with the aid of your demonstrator, a perfect way to finish the afternoon.

Luxury Private Experience This exceptional bespoke tour is completely customisable to suit individual guests every requirement. From hands on workshops with fake blood and chainmaille to flexing your creative mind with designer demonstrations, there are options to suit any possible combination of tastes.

Small, private groups of 2-12 guests will be given a personal tour by a senior Workshop Artist and, depending on the options selected, be joined by various other talented artists and technicians at selected times throughout the half-day tour.

Guests begin their time with a personal welcome from their Weta Artist who will act as their guide. This greeting takes place in the spectacular conference room that houses Weta’s five Oscars and many other prestigious awards, along with a full collection of the hand-crafted Collectables created by the talented Workshop Crew.

Once introduced, the artist will join the group to enjoy a range of delicious morsels of locally sourced cuisine before taking you on a private 1 hour Weta Cave Workshop Tour. Guests will be given an exclusive insight into how Weta Workshop has become one of the leading special effects companies in the world. The tour also offers a chance to look into the day-to-day workings of the Workshop facility through special windows opened into the heart of the Workshop. After your tour the group will be treated to three workshops or presentations of your choice.

As Weta Workshop is a multi-disciplined facility, we have the ability to offer hands-on workshops in Model Making, Sculpting, Blood Making and Chainmaille. As well as a Design Demonstration, Weapons Presentation, Movement Coaching or a Make-up and Prosthetics Demonstration.

A possible combination could include a Model Making Experience, Design Demonstration and then a break for afternoon food and beverages. Your final workshop could be a Make-up and Prosthetics Demonstration before the conclusion of your package.

This is just one of the possible combinations you could select for your tour. We can cater for a tour that is as interactive, or laid-back, as you wish. Guests will also be presented with a memento, signed by Richard Taylor.
