the witch and the warlock written and illustrated by emma and rebecca kirby
TRANSCRIPT
There once was a good witch, a very powerful witch, yet such a coward. She knew only one spell, how to turn a thing into a warthog. But she never turned anything into a warthog because of course, she was a good witch.
When a witch promised something to herself, it was a very strong thing. If she promised anything to herself, if she broke that promise the spell would not only work on the thing she is casting the spell on, but it would do it to her also.
It was a normal day in Witch Land and the little witch was outside sweeping her front porch when a very handsome warlock came along and asked her to come out to tea.
She refused, seeing no care in his heart. She imagined his heart as a dried up plum the size of a cherry seed.
A fight broke out. The two were trading insults as fast as a cheetah running at full speed. The witch finally lost her temper and muttered the only spell she knew…………………………………….
You’re so cruel!
NO! You are!
In a mere second, both of them were transported to a marsh. When the Warlock took out his mirror to see himself, they realized what had happened. They were both warthogs!
