Withlachoochee Ladies Auxiliary
I thought it would be a good idea to start a Ladies Auxiliary letter to be published in the Withlachoochee Chapter
Newsletter that is sent out to the membership, along with their information as well. At this point, I ask all of the Ladies
to send me your thoughts of interest so that I can have everything put into the newsletter. It would be any idea you may
have to get the ladies more interested in being on the Auxiliary, and doing some of the following items listed next. Like
ideas of how we can get together to do a project, like a craft for a raffle, welcome basket for the a new member of the
chapter who were just approved, or one person who can send out get well cards, maybe a different style of basket full of
useful items like house hold , workshop, or reading and listening enjoyment with DVD’s, or any thing else you may think
we could do to even raffle off at the membership meetings for the sole purpose of raising more money for the Chapter,
and the Auxiliary. We have to spend money to make money, so with that in mind, we need to make wise decisions in
what we decide to do.
As we work together to make the baskets to be raffled off at the Board of Management Meetings (BOM) in
Kissimmee Florida, I would like to express the thought of some of you to try to make it to the BOM, Spring, Winter, or
Fall, and see and experience all of the things that are planned that makes things more enjoyable. Awards given to Youth
Programs, many other awards also, Dinner on Saturday night with the President of the Florida State Society of the Sons
of American Revolution with the agenda for the night, the awards to be presented to fellow members, 50/50 raffle that
the Gents have, special speaker to talk on a topic of their interest, and of course the Auxiliary Baskets to be raffled off
from all of the chapters who bring their own special basket.
With all of this being said, I hope that each letter that we send to the Withlachoochee Chapter to be published will
be full of exciting things for many of us to do together, good information, and many ideas. I want to thank every one for
the opportunity to be the Ladies Auxiliary President since 2014, and all of the ladies who are presently on the Auxiliary.
They are Lillian Gingrich, Dot Day, MaryAnn Teater, Barbara Lincoln, Kathy Echlin & Mother, Joan Poe, Donna Idle, &
Vicky Brown.

Flag Dedication and Veteran Memorial Ceremony
Members of the Withlacoochee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution participated in the flag
dedication at The Academy of Environmental Science in Crystal River. The Chapter presented a flag that
was secured through U.S. Senator Rubio, and flown over the U.S. Capitol on December 17, 2016.
Compatriot Jack Townsend addressed the assembly regarding the presentation, Compatriot Bill Teater
read and presented the framed dedication certificate, and Compatriot Norm Freyer presented the framed
flag to a member of the student body. Civic, Patriotic and Veteran response to the lack of a U.S. flag at
the Academy, generously donated funds that resulted in a 40-foot hurricane resistant flag pole, a secure
base for the pole, a memorial marker and several flags.

Day at Washington Memorial Day
My Compatriot Brother Donald Day, Col Wm Grayson Chapter, Virginia Society and I recently
joined in the National Memorial Day Parade at Washington, D.C. The fact that P.G. Michael
Tomme was expecting us also contributed to our excitement for this spectacular event in
Washington D.C. The NSSAR Color Guard, parade arrangement, consisted of #1. The Colonial
Color Guard, #2. The Blue Blazers and Straw Hats Contingent, #3. Two vehicles (1) left was
C.A.R. CAR National President, Erin Moor is present., and (2) right was President General
Tomme and First Lady Cilla. There was a fantastic turn out along the entire parade route,
enthusiastic and Patriotic. Photo #5 shows Compatriot D. Day in foreground and crowd on one
side of the street.
Michael J. Elston , President, was present throughout the event and a fine host for Virginia
SAR. ALSO Cannot say enough good things about P.G. Tomme and First Lady Cilla‘s hosting and
promotion of the SAR.
Pictures 6, 7, 8, and 9 were early morning greetings.
This is a fun event and one everyone should try to get to it at least once and the SAR Memorial
Day Parade Medal is very colorful!
