Statue of bustamante unveiledMay 24, 1970
The statue of the Rt Excellent Alexander Bustamante, located in Victoria Square, Kingston, was formally unveiled. At the time, Bustamante was Jamaica’s only living National Hero. He rose to prominence as a labour leader of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union and went on to become the first Prime Minister of independent Jamaica.
Lenny Kravitz is bornMay 26, 1964
Actor, singer, songwriter, and all round Jack of all trades, Lenny Kravitz was born in New York City on May 26, 1964. His family moved to Los Angeles after his mother, Roxie Roker, scored a part on the popular series, The Jeffersons. He went on to attend Beverly Hills High School where actor, Nicolas Cage, and musician, Slash were his classmates.
The king and i opens at the little theatreMay 25, 1978
The Jamaica Musical Theatre Company’s production of The King and I opens at the Little Theatre. The cast was made up of more than 100 of the finest artistic ability Jamaica had to offer. The show was directed by Norman Rae who wanted to recreate the successful Rodger’s and Hammerstein musical rather than adhering precisely to the original.

How did you get started in the industry?
I entered Pulse’s Caribbean Model Search in the summer of 2005
and the rest as they say is history!
What’s your favourite ‘off the beaten path’ hangout in
Jamaica?I actually haven’t gotten a chance to explore any ‘off the beaten path’ hangout
spots since I’ve been back, but I really like the new
restaurant/bar Cru.
What’s been your most memorable weekend?
I was in Barbados for a shoot and flew to Africa with my boyfriend on a whim. Any weekend I
spend with my boyfriend and my family is
memorable though.
What has been your most interesting modeling job?
My Edun campaign was definitely my most memorable job. I got
to shoot with a real life elephant! We only had a
short time with him and he was misbehaving a little, so
that was pretty fun.

The Negril Escape Hotel is the place to be this weekend. #NoFilterJa is
taking over! The first event of its kind #NoFilterJa will feature two parties, one in the day and one in the night,
appropriately named Solar and Lunar.
Solar will be held from midday until 6pm and Lunar begins at 10pm. #NoFilterJa
will feature local and international musical acts such as Jillionaire (from Major Lazer), Acmatic, DJ Shell, DJ
Nicco and Leather Jackets.
Tickets will be available at Chilitos (Kingston) or at the gate in Negril.

Spicy Mango Punch
1oz Mango syrup 1oz Grenadine 1.5oz Finlandia Mango Vodka3oz Water¼oz Lime juice ¼ Chopped scotch bonnet pepper

Combine all ingredients in a shaker.
Pour into a cocktail glass. enjoy!
ingredients
½ cup steak sauce¼ cup dry sherry2 tablespoons honey1 lb sirloin steak (1-inch cubes)14 slices bacon (halved)1 larch onion (cut in wedges)1 large bell pepper (cut in squares)12 small mushroom caps
preparationIn a small bowl, blend steak sauce, sherry and honey.
Please beef cubes in dish; coat with ¼ cup steak sauce mixture.
Cover, chill 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Wrap half bacon slice around each cube.
Alternately thread beef and bacon cubes, onion, pepper and mushrooms onto metal skewers.
Grill over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or to desired doneness, turning and brushing occasionally with remaining steak sauce mixture.
Serve immediately.
