Early Dismissal in Elementary Schools

All schools in the York Region District School Board are com-

mitted to improving student achievement and well-being. On

Wednesday, June 29, 2016 an early release day will take

place to allow elementary teachers and support staff to take

part in meetings during the afternoon of that day. These

meetings will allow for school staff to engage in culminating

activities regarding the review and revision of the School’s

Improvement Plan as well as year-end and transition activi-

ties that support student success.

As has been our practice in the past, students will attend

school during the morning of Wednesday, June 29, 2016

only. Students will be dismissed early that day at 11:55 a.m.

Arrangements will be made to ensure that students who are

normally bused to and from school will receive transportation

at this time. Parents/guardians whose children attend after

school child care should make appropriate arrangements to

address this change in schedule.

Summer Institute at Woodbridge P.S.

The York Region District School Board’s Summer Institute is

a program that offers academic, recreational and athletic

programs and activities with intentional links to the Ontario

Curriculum for children and youth entering Senior Kinder-

garten to Grade 8.

Public School, from July 4, 2016 to August 12, 2016.

Programs run weekly from 9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with extended

YMCA before and aftercare programs available.

Program and registration information is now available on the

YRDSB website, www.yrdsb.ca. To access Summer Institute

information, click on the Summer Program icon on the

YRDSB homepage. Completed applications may

be dropped off at the school office.

Kindergarten Registration

Water Safety Week

June 4-11, 2016, is Water Safety Week, an annual campaign to educate Canadians on how to stay safe around water and prevent drowning incidents.

Our Canadian Summers can have many hot and sunny days that lead to lots of family fun outdoors and often near water. It is impor-

tant to think about Water Safety around any source of water that we might explore together with our children.
