Hello, and welcome to a brand new season of fantastic live performance at the Corn Exchange & New Greenham Arts.

As the weather turns chilly and the nights draw in, we’re getting ready for our busiest time of year as we prepare to welcome over 22,500 people to our pantomime, Cinderella! Our annual pantomime has become a huge tradition for so many of you, and we’ve been working all year to make sure that this year’s show is filled with as much music, magic and mayhem as always. We’ll also be celebrating the festive season with our family favourite The Night Before Christmas at New Greenham Arts and our beautiful Festival of Light processional event in the Market Place.

There really is so much choice in our new season it’s hard to pick out our highlights, but in order to give you a flavour of what’s coming up, here are a few of our favourites. We’ve two got completely different but equally fantastic circus shows Anyday and The Party, alongside comedy from the likes of Susan Calman, Balil Zafar and Henning Wehn. Spectacular ballroom dancing from Tangomotion, as well as an evening with Strictly Come Dancing stars Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite and the film premiere of Young Men by the BalletBoyz. Uplifting theatre with shows including Meet Fred by Hijinx, an amazing inclusive theatre company based in Cardiff, and The Misfit Analysis starring Cian Binchley by Access All Areas, as well as children’s classic Babe The Sheep Pig by Dick King-Smith, adapted by legendary children’s playwright David Wood whose production of The Witches was such a success at the Corn Exchange last year.

Looking ahead to 2017, we’ve got huge amounts to celebrate, including the 10th anniversary of our intimate 40-seat cinema. Some of our patrons have told us they think it’s one of Newbury’s best kept secrets, but we want to change that and make sure everybody knows about it! Our regular film brochure is released every eight weeks and we screen everything from independent films to current blockbusters and documentaries. We also offer bespoke screenings for parents with young babies, the over-60s as well as relaxed movies screenings too.

And finally, if you’ve been in to visit over the last few months, you’ll have noticed all the work that has been going on at the Corn Exchange to refurbish our washrooms. Thank you all for your patience while this work has been going on – we hope you agree it was well worth it!

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

MITCH BENN: DON’T FEAR THE REAPER A night of comedy and song with Radio 4 favourite Mitch Benn.

It’s been a morbid time for “the country’s leading musical satirist” (The Times); he’s turned 46 - over the hill by anyone’s standards - his personal life is in turmoil, and his childhood heroes are dropping like flies. At times like these, a man feels the Reaper creeping up on him… But is death anything to fear? And is it really the end? (Yes. Yes, it is, sorry!) Mitch confronts his - and YOUR - mortality with hilarious (and tuneful) consequences. Join him! It’s time you’re not getting back!

SHOWTIME BOHÈMEPRESENTED BY NOMADS

Nomads are back with their next original production.

When Charlie agrees to take part in a showcase at his local town hall, he has no idea what he’s getting himself into. He soon realises that it takes more than just talent to put on a showcase; it also takes a pinch of insanity, a generous portion of romance, and a whole heap of fun.

Created around great numbers from hit musicals, including Rent, Chicago, Wicked, Kinky Boots, Singin’ in the Rain, Mary Poppins and Les Misérables, and featuring a cacophony of tongue-in-cheek comedy, Showtime Bohème promises to be a fantastically feel-good musical.
