WILDTHING PARENTS – YOU ROCK!!!

You deserve a huge THANK YOU for all of the amazing support you’re giving to the team – the season has gotten off to a fantastic start thanks to all of our wonderful parent volunteers!!! Check out these stats: Parent volunteer jobs already completed this season: 130 unique jobs Parent volunteer jobs still to go: 510 – 407 of which are already filled! Percentage of volunteer jobs for season that are already filled: 83% The team couldn’t do it without all of your hard work at the meets and social events, and your swimmers are enjoying a positive and memorable swim team experience THANKS TO YOU! A few notes/updates:

• If you haven’t had a chance to sign up for all of your volunteer requirements for the summer, as you can see there is still plenty of help needed – especially for meets toward the end of the season. Please review your family’s obligation & sign up now for the rest of the season.

• Remember – for every volunteer job you fulfill, your name will be entered into our end of season

raffle for an iPad mini!!! Also as a reminder, your Langley Club account will be charged $25 for every required volunteer slot that you do not complete. Please keep in mind that only one social event job counts toward your obligation.

• If you did not sign up for A meet jobs yet, but it now looks like your swimmer(s) will be

participating in A meets, please be sure to sign up for your required A meet jobs. If your swimmer does not compete in a particular meet, we can always take your name off – but please sign up now to get your preferred jobs & fulfill your requirements!

• Help is particularly needed for Chief/Assistant Chief Timer and Chief/Table Worker at B Meets.

Chief Timer puts you poolside, in the heart of the action – and you will play a huge role in keeping meets running smoothly and efficiently. Chief/Table Worker offers a comfortable seat in the shade while you ensure that all of our swimmers’ awesome swim times are accurately recorded and acknowledged! If you would like to shadow & be trained on-the-job for either of these roles, please contact the Volunteer Coordinators.

Thank you again for all of your support! For more information or questions, please email or call the Volunteer Coordinators Kathleen Mullery ([email protected], 703-731-8445) and Marlen McKinney ([email protected], 571-242-2208).

Each week the coaches recognize a couple of swimmers who have shown excellent progress in his/her social behavior, i.e. cooperation with coaches and other swimmers, stepping up and trying something new for the good of the team, completion of sets in practices or improvement of skills, and a generally positive attitude. The Wildthing of the Week is awarded at the Pep Rally each Friday. Congratulations to Campbell Tyler and Anna Deringer, our Wildthings of the Week!

Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do I sign up my child for meets?

Online sign-ups are easy and extremely helpful for our coaches and swim committee volunteers. Please follow these important steps: FOR B MEETS – BY NOON MONDAY EACH WEEK: Before every B meet, please RSVP online and select the events your child will swim at that meet. Sign up online here. If you do not sign up online by Monday at noon, your child’s time cards will not be pre-printed. When you arrive at the B meet, please help your child find the coaches’ table in the team area where last minute event time cards will be written. FOR A MEETS – UPDATE YOUR AVAILABILITY: Please set your child’s meet availability online for the season’s A meets as soon as you know your schedule. Don’t worry that you are presuming your child will be selected for an A meet or assume they won’t be swimming – it is important for the coaches and team reps to know everyone who is available and those who have a vacation, camp or other conflict that would prevent them from attending. Detailed instructions for updating your availability may be found here.
