The Incident at Naha and many more. He was an author from 1933 to 2002 and

in his novels there was a lot of passion. He loved what he did and succeeded in a

great way. He is very proud of Tusk and Stone , the

book I read. Tusk and Stone was his last book in 1995.

Main Characters1. Arjun - Was the 14 year old boy that went to

Kashi and his caravan got attacked by Dacoits.

2. Gauri (9 years old) - was the younger sister of Arjun that was kidnapped by the Dacoits.

3. Rama - Was one of Arjun’s Mahout trainers.4. Karna - The best friend of Arjun from the

army camp.5. The Uncle6. Hari - Another one of Arjuns Mahout

Setting

This book took place in India It also was in the 1500s It also took place in Kashi, India. It took place 400 years ago

Major Conflict - Plot One major conflict in this book was when Arjun,

Gauri, and the uncle took a Caravan to Kashi. Then they were met by the Dacoits and they

killed everyone except Arjun, the 14 year old boy.

But they killed his uncle and kidnapped his younger sister Gauri. And when this was over and the Dacoits were gone he was looking at all the dead bodies

Then Arjun noticed this man in the corner under a tree.

Major conflict The man was just sitting under the tree laughing.

Then Arjun went up to him and said why are you laughing these people are dead.

And he said I don’t know then Arjun said I’m going after the Dacoits and the man said ok I will take you. On the way there Arjun got really hungry so the man took him to this woman and she made curds with a spice that makes you fall into a deep sleep, Arjun fell asleep and the stranger put him in a Army base and when Arjun was in the room and woke he heard a mans voice behind him and he said a guy poisoned you and brought you here.

Research: Caravans Caravans are a thing that people use in

countries for transportation. These caravans are usually pushed by

elephants or any animal. There usually is a small group of people

that come in these caravans . People still use Caravans today. They have used them for hundreds of

years

Research: Mahouts Mahouts are people that take care of

elephants. They also ride them. And train them They use them in battle. You half to do lots of training to become a

Mahout. And have to have very good balance. You get to learn how to feed and bath them.
