quality of a certain inner involvement. Not a feeling but constant attention to the experience.

to combine the evolut ion of regulat ions with market demands. Fol lowing the entry into force of Regulat ion CPR 305/2011

and of the CE mark ing for domes and sky l ights, Pol i form Lucernar i has introduced an opt imised range to prov ide i ts cu-

stomers wi th technica l ly and economical ly appropr iate solut ions.

PCA: A lve lar polycarbonate

Alvelar polycarbonate is a product with high mechanical and impact resistance. It is only used in the “X” section which guarantees unaltered deforma-

tion of the thickness used during thermoforming. The insulating properties of the multi walls contribute to high thermal insulation which characterizes

the “U” value of thermal transmutation of domes and skylights.

High snow capacity is achieved thanks to the very conformation of the honeycombs themselves. The product is flame retardant and does not propa-

gate flames. Standard colours: opal (milky white), transparent.

Colours on request: brown/smoky grey.

PCC: Compact polycarbonate

Compact polycarbonate is typically used in thicknesses of 2/3/4 mm. Its main feature is high impact resistance. Its lower insulating value determines

the combination of various thicknesses (or shells). It must be combined with flat honeycomb slabs to achieve very efficient “U” values.

The product is flame retardant and does not propagate flames. Standard colours: opal (milky white), transparent. Colours on request: brown/smoky

grey.

PMMA: Polymethy lmethacry late

Extruded methacrylate has excellent optical and light transmission characteristics. The product can be used in the traditional form in thicknesses of

3/4 mm. As it is highly fragile to impact (hail), elastomers can be added to it to make the surface more resistant.

It is also highly flammable and the thermal resistance values require the pairing of multiple shells or combinations with alvelar PC. Standard colours:

opal (milky white), transparent.

FIXBLOCK: special Nylon clamps reinforced with EPDM suct ion seals. A Poliform Lucernari invention born from the need to unite and solve problems created by fixing with clips (clamps). The first is the sealing impact, which exce-eds 5 cm creating a greater pressure on the surface. Each point is 300 kg shear resistant. The design of the suction seal guarantees outstanding tightness as the gasket creates an internal and external seal. The skylight remains firmly anchored to the substrate so any overturning does not move the dome.The impact on the surface of the dome with the EPDM suction cup provides ela-sticity to the normal expansions of polycarbonate. Installation is fast and easy, also allowing changes of position. The nickel-plated steel screw remains protected from the elements as it is housed internally.

Clamps: aluminium, conformed shape bracket. Created in the 70’s to remedy the particular problem of the breakage of skylights at that time made only in P.M.M.A. (Plexiglas), a highly fragile product. The appli-cation of polycarbonate for skylights arose in the 80’s and 90’s as a product that is highly resistant to shocks and with fastenings created with clamping screws. Clamp fastening is point-fixed; that is, it impacts the support surface only on the thickness used (usually 2 cm). Breaking resistance (wind) does not exceed 100 kg also if used for ENFC and sometimes, during dome overturning, it involves its movement with the result of having to realign it after closure. This problem regards different types of clamps available on the market. In fact, even if the same clamp can vary from type to type, the indicated problem remains. In addition to the listed sensitivity of the product, it must also be noted that installation is slower by more than half compared with fixing screws.

Monolithic domes CE marked in accordance with EN1873/2014 created by means of thermoforming flat slabs. Its particular shape makes it impact resistant (in polycarbonate versions), self-supporting and easy to assemble. Domes are always accompanied by standard fastening accessories and special seals. Thermal insulation and fire resistance are given by the type of material with which they are constructed. Excellent insulation consists of the use of alvelar polycarbonate as the fire reaction class according to EN13501-1 which does not go beyond declaration B S2 d0. The versions can be double or triple wall, in case of use of solid sheets, in combination with compact slabs and velarium alvelar polycarbonate or directly in the 16/20/25 mm thicknesses in a single special alvelar polycarbonate solution.

Continuous skylights for the creation of variable length and width rows, created by means of thermoforming flat slabs. Its particular configuration allows for composition with standard measurement modules which together form the desired gap, with closure using suitably shaped end caps. Their particular shape makes them impact resistant (in polycarbonate versions), self-supporting and easy to assemble. Domes are always accompanied by standard fastening accessories and special seals. Thermal insulation and fire resistance are given by the type of material with which they are constructed. “Miksover” corrugated skylights are constructed through patented variable taper thermoforming, connectable on the front to all types of 5 corrugated Sandwich panels. Its particular configuration allows the creation of gaps parallel to the length of the ridge. The thickness of the slab used can be 4, 6, 10 and 16 mm with double and triple wall, ensuring high impact resistance and excellent insulation. Miksover solves a market need.The creation of a gaps parallel to the ridge on double slope prefabricated pieces has always been entrusted to the use of special materials: fiberglass or other similar that do not guarantee high mechanical strength (hail) and, especially, fire resistance in case of fire. Our product is useful where the receptivity of these parameters is required, creating a combination of quality and price that is hard to match. The uniqueness of the product lies in the nature of the material with which it is constructed but especially in its shape. In fact, Miksover is the first skylight that can be coupled at the front with sandwich panels or sheets in alvelar polycarbonate.

Divided into two types:

Roof (horizontal enfc, on sloping roofs, curved roofs or Sheds)

Wall (enfc applied to vertical building walls)

The difference in type lies in the SUA value (Aa). In fact, roof ENFCs, being very exposed, require a SUA value tested with the wind blowing against

the flue outlet to ensure efficiency even in cases of evacuation in extreme situations. For this reason, roof vents applied to sheds require protections

that act as wind screens, as they are very exposed because they are arranged vertically, while horizontal vents, even with blowing wind, create a

chimney effect exhaust and easily expel fumes.

Wall vents, as they are highly influenced by the wind, undergo enforcement by regulations and must ensure an opening both upwind and downwind.

For this reason, mirrored application is required with the wind sensor so as to always open the correct number of devices with favourable wind.

The entire range of Poliform Lucernari smoke and heat vents is tested and guaranteed for the creation of systems under UNI9494-1/2012.

Constructed with natural extruded aluminium frame and subframe, pneumatic cylinder with variable bore and stroke, inserted with special galvanised steel overturning carriage for maximum opening 165°. Complete with thermal valve with 68° calibrated thermo-fused ampoule, suitably weighed CO cylinder, closure ratchet constructed by means of a patented mechanical hook with opening release. Copper and Teflon stainless steel sheathed fittings. Opening from outside for maintenance by means of steel eyelet. Locking system with mechanical device in the event of opposing wind.

Electrical opening supplement applicable to ENFCSupplement applied to Smoke Lux Natural Smoke and Heat Vent for daily ventilation by means of a 300 mm stroke electric actuator. Thrust and traction power 450 N - 230V - 50Hz, adjustable travel limit in automatic opening and closing, IP55 protection. Bases perform the important function of creating a support for skylights and opening systems and solving problems of infiltration in docking between

the roof and the covering. The type of base, which can be sheet metal or fiberglass, is identified in relation to the structural type of a roof. Sheet metal

bases are usually used for flat roofs subject to waterproofing with bituminous or PVC sleeves. Fiberglass bases are mainly used on Greek fret or

corrugated coverings where the difference in slope and the conformation itself require adequate sealing, faithfully copying the Greek fret or covering

corrugation waves.

Attention to the perfect construction and assembly of these products is essential for the achievement of excellent results. Steel sheet bases are con-

structed, conforming material to a “C” shape so as to create a support foot and a plane to receive skylights and profile frames. PRFV (fiberglass) bases

are built on suitable models, designed according to the type of roofing. They require an accurate process which combines design, implementation

of the model and moulding. Poliform Lucernari possesses a wide range of models that are adaptable to most coverings on the market. Tailor made

models can be built upon customer requests.

Galvanised and/or pre-varnished white-greyish colour, various thicknesses, moulded in the perimeter edge formation. All this is supplied in a special

angle assembly kit to facilitate assembly, installation, and fastening. It can also be supplied insulated with polyurethane, polystyrene, polystyrene with

tarred sheath coating and/or with rock wool covered with tar sheath. Includes seals, bolts and all components necessary for installation.

fiberglass bases

Component moulded in reinforced fiberglass resin, treated externally with a grey colour film of gelcoat with protection thickness 8/10, internal resin

with white gelcoat for increased light. This construction also offers pleasant aesthetics both externally (colours, measurement and ribs the same as

the covering) and internally (white surfaces for increased light). In addition to being extremely easy to install, this element is able to solve all problems

related to installing openable mechanisms and skylights on insulated coverings, maintaining the same structural and capacity features. Furthermore, it

perfectly adapts to the insulated panel without the aid of any tin work, fully preventing the possibility of water infiltration in coverings. Vertical insulation

and/or additional insulation over the entire beam for curved coverings, constructed in the insulating cover in the formation of a package of thickness

equal to the package of the panel such as to form a perfect monolithic replacement of the covering slabs eliminated for insertion with variable density

expanded polyurethane/polystyrene/rock wool, fire reaction class in accordance with EN 13501-1.

“Integrated Poliform” system

The need for addition of safety nets in opening systems such as smoke vents has led Poliform Lucernari to develop “Integrated Poliform” systems.

These are galvanised steel nets inserted ex works inside frames. This system prevents net cutting throughout the overall dimensions of the vents and

involves very fast installation while also allowing net application at a later time after waterproofing. The system is certified by a research and testing

institute for a resistance of a strength equal to 1200J (Joule).

The domes and skylights have a mechanical resistance that varies according to the use of various materials.

For example, a skylight constructed in 16 mm alvelar polycarbonate is highly impact-resistant and has a high load capacity. Liability obligations howe-

ver require additional protections, especially in the presence of openable parts. Nets or grilles are used to meet this requirement.

Safety nets are made of galvanised steel mesh with interwoven wires with variable diameter from 2 to 8 mm. They constitute a sealing barrier for any

falling bodies, and they are usually anchored to the foot of the skylight below the supporting base.

Intrusion protection grilles are railings consisting of full galvanised steel braids with minimum diameter 16 mm, made from cross-mesh and which

must have a minimum space between gaps. They constitute burglary protection and must therefore be very resistant and anchored so they cannot

be removed.
