South Broward Area ASC Minutes

James S opened the meeting at 10:00am with the Serenity Prayer. Max read the Twelve Traditions.

Joann – New GSR for A Day at a Time Motion around the Activities Chair taking the responsibility of the Activities Treasurer is out of order because they are two elected positions. Just like the Secretary of Area and the Chair cannot hold the same position. The Vice Chair of Area is responsible to fulfill the Activities Treasurer position when needed. YoFrank – Before a motion went back to groups from Area, we always had discussions in the past with two pros and two cons and information to give to the groups. Duke – I believe in our policy the one elected position is the Activities Treasurer that can hold another position because the Activities Treasurer does not make motions. Is this in our Policy? There will be flyers in your Literature order. Tues Night Men’s Group is no longer. However, the New Attitudes Group will take its place 7676 Davie Rd Ext, 7pm, Tues Night, Faith Christian Church.

It is a regular open meeting. Watch your meeting list so no one gets confused.

Liz – (in response to Duke) Activities Treasurer along with other Admin can only hold one position per Duke. Phil – asking to waive policy for discussion. For instance, email correspondence go out that are information and I believe open forum should be used for discussion as well. Question: Are you okay with receiving emails? I would like emails to be blind copied so everyone does not get a hold of others contacts. There were two emails that went out last month that were not from Area because someone used our email addresses from when the Area minutes were sent.

Clint – If the Chair Person of Activities is taking the Activities Treasurer responsibility, does that give them the right to vote?

ASC Chair Report: James S – Hello Area, All is well, thank you for your patience last month I was incorrect about motions, this how I learn, so I apologize. If you need Policy, let me know. Even though I am learning I did drop on printing out a copy of the agenda. No excuse, I love the idea and completely forget. So I will today after area so I don’t forget. Any questions. I was also informed that our minutes are not being updated on the website and I will look into that. Thank you for letting me be of service.

ASC Vice-Chair: Robert S – I had meeting lists printed for Morgan. Forgive me for not being here. I had to work today. Resignation Due to my new work schedule I will not be able to continue to fulfill duties and resign as vice chair. I am writing this letter to the area to apologize.

I want to thank everyone that voted for me for the the alt. rcm position,

However, I feel ,, I must step down immediately, so that someone else

Can take the position , if they so desire.

Due to personal issues,with myself and also my immediate family,

my service to the area would not be up to par.

It is with deep regret,,, that I must resign the position.

Activities Chair: Clint – Activities is doing well. We are planning the Anniversary. Flyers are going out in the literature today. Please make sure they are read at every meeting. We are

asking for a check 225.00 for the park and tickets for the anniversary event.

Activities Treasurer – open position

Helpline/PR Chair: Tony – Helpline Picnic May 7 $10 for the meal and event. Steven R elected to Vice Chair. We attended Rockers in Recovery yesterday at CB Smith and manned a South

Broward Public Relations booth. We do need to make a budget for 2017. We are asking treasurer to provide us with 2016 and 2015 budget to compare and figure out what we need to present to you for approval. Need to continue to send Forest the minutes and if he is getting it to make sure he is updating it.

H&I Chair: Duke – Hi Folks,

I’m an addict, name’s Duke.

We had 14 members in attendance at our last subcommittee meeting. We also had 5 new people show

up for orientation however, only one had the clean time and requirements to take a commitment. We

did fill an open spot with Stephanie K, welcome Stephanie.

I will be asking for a check for rent; $15 for the month of Feb. Also I will be asking for a check for printing

Orientation pack and policy packs. $ 30.53

We did have a member go to BSO orientation.

We have 7 open slots

We meet the third Tuesday of each month.

Motion: (For reimbursements) All check requests are paid out during ASC and must be paid out in check form. Intent: This is done in order to keep a paper trail of everything that transpires at ASC. Pros – we should have a paper trail and they do not need more to keep track of as well. Cash transactions also leave a lot of room for error. Cons – we already have a way to account for Cash by writing it down stating it is paid in Cash (we can photo copy the money on to the receipt if needed).

People pay in more than one currency so in the future when we get a square to swipe money, we will need to change it again. Regional Motions- none

Intent: To reimburse the work performed so the South Broward Area won’t be liable for any penalties due to not filing the correct paperwork and tax returns.

Qualifications: I have 3 years and 10 months - Working and serving helpline for over a year, Helpline Vice-Chair

for over 6 months. I have the time to serve and organizational skills. I go to the Helpline meetings regularly and there are a lot of helpline members there that can help.
